The CHAPTER was chartered on June 29, 1982 (although national records show the charter date to be 1984) with Arch. Elmor V. Vita as its first president with then Congressman Freddie N. Webb as guest of honor. The chapter was the third to be chartered under Region VIII or what is now District B-3, during the term of Arch. Jaime Marquez as Regional District Director. The auspicious occasion was held at the Nayong Silangan Restaurant (the Lutong Nayon) along Dr. A Santos Avenue, Parañaque, Metro Manila. There are different versions as to why and how the chapter appended the word "Palanyag". The more popular versions are that this was the name of a small roadside restaurant along Sucat Road near Kabihasnan Junction where the charter members met culminating to the actual charter. Another version is that "Palanyag" is the generic of historical name that eventually became Parañaque. We know both to be true but nevertheless the chapter throughout its history has always stood for pride and integrity. Notwithstanding the numerous obstacles such as the years of "dormancy" as well as the difficulties of time, travel and poor communication which beset the municipality at that time. The chapter has always embodied and personified the words "United" and "Architect". |
