Even More Keeshond Rescues Available in Texas
Bella
Bella is a little doll who was saved from a puppymill
in November. She was born in March 2002 and arrived in
rescue weighing all of 11 pounds, about half the size
of a normal kees puppy that age. Her dimunitive
stature may be genetic, or may be related to the
persistent runny bowels she arrived with. The
digestive issues have been resolved, and she is
gaining weight now and thriving, but we doubt she will
completely catch up. Her full-grown weight will
probably be around 20 pounds - the perfect size for
the lapdog she wants to be. Bella has quickly shaken
off her puppymill past; she is interested in people
and becoming more trusting with each passing day. She
is playful and mischevous now that she feels better.
But Bella is still very skittish and timid in new
situations. She must go to a secure home where there
is no chance of her getting loose. She would run in
fear and not come home. Bella is spayed, up-to-date on
vaccinations and heartworm negative. She is being
fostered in San Antonio. Contact Cindy.
Joy
Joy was rescued from the same puppymill as Bella. She
was born in August 1996 and spent most of her life
treated like a piece of livestock - left to live in a
kennel, being bred over and over just to make money
for her owner. Joy is just starting to learn that life
can be good. But she has a long way to go. She is
still afraid to approach people for the love she
deserves. Joy has a beautiful, sweet face and a
temperament to match. We hope she will be able to get
past her fears and feel the joy of life. She is
spayed, healthy and heartworm negative. Joy isn't
ready for a forever home yet, but please check back or
e-mail her foster mom, Cindy for
progress reports. Joy is being fostered in San
Antonio.
Regis
This November 2002 rescue from a puppymill is absolutely gorgeous. Six months old at the time of rescue, Regis is a very royal-looking keeshond. Having never been socialized in the puppymill, he is extremely shy and frightened of everything. In the first 3 weeks since his rescue, he is beginning to relax with people, but still cowers in fear at strange noises. He is learning to play with some toys and learning his name. He is crate trained, knowing that the crate represents safety. Regis is current on all of his shots, heartworm negative (and on preventative), neutered, and microchipped. More photos of Regis will be posted as he comes to understand that life can, indeed, be good. He is being fostered in the Houston area by ~Tink~.
