| Hannah and "The Little Guy" (more frequently called the "li'l *hit) were both rescues from puppymills, brought here for foster in late October (Hannah) and early November (TLG). Hannah has an old broken jaw which gave her a lobsided smile, that remained after she was vetted and dental work done. Within a day or so of her arrival here, you'd have thought that she had always been here. Affectionate and loving, she rapidly became a hit with all that met her. Two weeks after her arrival, TLG arrived and our entire world turned upside down. Not having dealt with a "puppy" of 9 weeks since my first keeshond back in 1986, I wasn't sure what to expect. In spite of starting out his life in the puppymills, and horrendous diarrhea from unsanitary conditions there, this little guy was full of life. Once he began feeling better, he was "10 feet tall and bulletproof" with the big dogs here. He took to his crate immediately, and, as soon as his diarrhea was controlled, was well on his way to being housetrained when he was adopted. When the Robinsons came to Conroe to meet the Rescues, and adopt the puppy, Hannah decided that SHE wanted to adopt the Robinsons! While Vickie was waiting with her children, Hannah slipped into the truck and into Vickie's lap to lavish her with affection. That was all it took!...Well, that and a little sweet talk to husband, Bernie. Both dogs went to their FOREVER homes December 1, 2002. Hannah happy with her new life... and SMOKEY about to begin his with a new name! **Postscript** It's been rumored that if you don't name something, you don't get attached to it... THAT rumor is FALSE! |
