610 LIFT OFF -- Part 2
The reverse procedure from January 13 was performed on March 23.  TVRM 610 went in the air for driving wheel replacement.  Much work led up to this event but primarily consisted of wheel work as 610's four driving wheel sets were cycled through the shop: wheel lathe, journal lathe, and quartering machine.  Amazingly, this was the first time TVRM wheels were turned in our shop!  (Seems like we've turned everyone's wheels except our own.)
Number 610 entered regular service on Saturday, April 7.
"Work Order: Put the vehicle on the lift and rotate the tires!"
With the drivers held together with their siderods as well as all-thread between the journal boxes, the set is rolled back under the locomotive.  When properly spotted, the frame is slowly lowered down onto its axles.  The TVRM shop just can't be beat for professionalism and achievement.  Period.
