765 Update
Y2k FWRHS Open House and Auction Highlights.

This years Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society Open House, home of the 765, also featured
a railroadiana auction. The auction proved to be highly successful attracting
people from states away. The final tally showed the three day event raised over $12,000.
Also new this year was a donation by Amtrak of a round trip to Washington, D.C., for four.
This fantastic trip was raffled off. Thanks to Amtrak. What follows is a quick overview of the event and the 765. Check
out 1999 highlights and other attractions within a mile of the Society.

 | Newly restored Nickel Plate phone booth now sits line side at the FWRHS society. Originally located near Celina, OH, the structure had been sitting at the corner of Ryan and Edgerton Roads since the Society's early days. It now looks great at it's present location. |

Sometimes you just "hafta" know how something works! It's a long way up there, but it is surely a sight you don't see often these days. |

There's more than one way to learn your history. Part of preservation is compiling data. One of the best sources is directly from those who were there. And very often, as is the case here, they are very willing to share the knowledge. |

A project underway. Nickel Plate (ex-LE&W) caboose 141 is the only one of her kind to survive. Also is Nickel Plate wooden box car X-50448. Built for the LE&W in 1902 as thier #43074, it became #83074 after the NKP merger. |

Carillon Park Rail and Steam Society of Dayton, OH, provided rides on some of thier 1 1/2" scale live steamers.
These large models are always a hit with all ages of kids. |
