White Cliffs

Sunday 23 June 2002

Track Notes Menindee to Broken Hill. We were able to get an update on road conditions between Menindee and Wilcannia so decided to return to Broken Hill. It means an extra 200km onto trip to Whitecliffs.
Fuel 93.7 cents/litre
Camp site Broken Hill Caravan Park. Toilets & showers are nice and clean. Quite a busy park but that is understandable as the "Lake View" park has a bad reputation and deserves it.

On arrival we set up the van and Odette caught up with the washing. Cleaned out the car a bit and refuelled, plus bought some bread and coffee. We are just stopping overnight and nice to have a shower.

Dingo Fence

The dingo or dog fence, is the world's longest fence. It was originally constructed by the Queensland Government to stop the invasion of rabbits from the south. The fence is now maintained to exclude wild dogs from sheep grazing areas. The fence is approximately 6,400 km long.
