Baz - Alrite you sick Smothered fucks, you are one vicious Porngrind band...when were you ejaclated forth upon this sick scene?
Lord MCP - SBs was actually a duo when it started out Summer of 2001. I joined somewhere around a year after that.
Felchor - I've always dug depraved music since I heard the Mentors and the Meatmen in '87 or something. The ideas started a long time ago but I basically got things going in June of '01 when I heard stuff like CUM and CBT. After school I had more free time to record so SB was born. Around that time I was really diggin' the groove and creativity in porngrind that I liked in the old school stuff
Baz - Are you into other Porngrind bands, such as Libido Airbag and Urethral Enema?
Lord MCP - I like Libido Airbag quite a bit as well as the other Olli Roder projects. My favourite in Porn/Gore overall is Intestinal Disgorge. As far as Urethral Enema goes, I am indifferent.
Felchor - I keep up on miost of it but new bands are springing up dast so it gets tough. UE is vintage MCP and it's always great to hear his 8,000,000 projects. Libido Airbag is fun in doses, I like the NWC666 better. I spend much more time listening to Running Guts, Purulent Spermcanal and noisy fucked up stuffl ike Blask Mass of Absu and Enbilulugugal. The more retarded the better. Shit like Count Chopula and Spamicidal! keeps me motivated. There are some great up and coming projects still on that small scale that deserve attention.
Baz - Is this your favourite genre of music, or are you both into other things?
Lord MCP - I think good music is good regardless of its genre. There is a fair share of metal and grind that I think is great as well as some more relaxed stuff as well. Porno and Goregrind is great genre to listen to early in the morning over a fresh brew of coffee
Felchor - I don't really have a favourite genre of music. It is my favourite metal related stuff because of all the fucked up and original bands. I dig all kinds of music but commercialized MTV music and garbage like that. Mostly DIY and lo-fi stuff gets my attention.
Baz - What does each of you do in the band? Does one of you write lyrics while another writes music, or do you let your individual ideas form one homogenous blob of depravity.
Lord MCP - Music is primarily done by Felchor and vocals by me but we all swap ideas back and forth. Fistor does a bit of both
Felchor - Basically I write, play and record all the music. Fistor packs bongs and re-mixes the stuff. Nick lives 6 hours away so I send him the tracks on the web and he just takes it from there for the vox. We give each other some suggestions but for the most part we work seperate. I do some song titles now and again but MCP is basically in charge of all that jibba jabb.
Baz - Which other bands and artists would you say influence you the most?
Lord MCP - A few influences are CBT, Lymphatic Phlegm, Purulent Spermcanal, Frankensperm, Intestinal Disgorge, and of course Gut
Felchor - Fo me it's a lot of early experimental music like Throbbing Gristle, Psychick TV, Big Black, Boyd Rice, Chris and Coesy and then the more obvious stuff like CBT, Carnal Diagfragma, Purulent Spermcanal and CUM
Baz - I was asked to give a description of the Smothered Brothers sound recently. I said the nearest thing to it would be a pilled up Purulent Spermcanal cumming on Gut's body bag in an Anal Projectile Productions' snuff movie. What would your own description of your band be?
Lord MCP - Anything that doesn't say we sound like Libido Airbag is good.
Felchor - I think that's a fair description of the first demo but with all the odd rhythms and home made instruments I think we really sound like no one else at this point. Puppy Rocket has been described as noise core and I don't know what the fuck that means. I like the noise part of that but the word core reminds me of a lot of stuff I want nothing to do with. I call us Porngrinding tardgore.
Baz - What have you both been listening to recently?
Lord MCP - As far as Porn/Gore goes, some recent plays have been The Bitch Project, Filth, Gynophagia, and a bit of SMES
Felchor - Foetopsy, Biolich, Purulent Spermcanal, Coffee Grinders, Dead Infection demos, Count Chopula, Nurse With Wounds, Huun Huur Tu, the Tards, Thinking Fellers and Enbilulugugal.
Baz - On the Puppy Rocket release, some of the songs have a distinctive experimental harsh noise sound to them and in the thanks list you have a shout to good old Melt Banana. Do you enjoy noise as well as grind?
Lord MCP - Yeah noise has been a long time interest for us, in fact, Felchor and I have our own two-man noise project called Fall From A Roof. You can check out some tracks on the website : http://www.geocities.com/fallfromaroof.
Although we enjoy to some extent or another, we were thanking the ladies in MxBx for being such hot pieces of ass!!
Felchor - In my opinion Melt Banana is better for seein' than hearin' I like the guitar, theramin and drums but the vocals make me stabby after 5 mins. I love noise but usually the more organic and analog sounding stuff. I will be releasing some fucked up circuit bent noise soon so stay tuned for that. I am totally against the bullshit laptop noise trend. I prefer the reall creative stuff like Caroliner, Ski Mask, Todt Stadt and Gerogerigegege.
