Baz - Alrite you depraved, fluid stained pornfuck! Rompeprop is excellent Porngrind with a most perverted groove. What happened with your old band Smegma and when did Rompeprop begin?
Steve - Smegma started to grind in 1987. We did a split with Agathocles and made a most wanted demo back then! We broke up in 1991 and the drummer and me continued with Bowelcrust til 1995. I sure fucked up my voice and the doctor forbid me to rape my voicecords never again. In 2000 we started Rompeprop. We loved th Utopie and Gut CD very much and I still had an old pitchshifter and a new groovy goregrind act was born. We found a rehearsal room in February 2001 and the first song was written [Disclocated Purple Stoma].
Baz - Where did the band name come from and who thought of it?
Steve - It's a self made Dutch word. The exact translation is ROMP + TORSO & PROP = CLOTH, like a bloodcloth [bloedprop]. So Torsocloth is the exact name, but it sound too much like a Black Metal band! Besides, in Dutch it sounds very rude...I made it up by the way, like the lyricks and shit like that
Baz - What is the present day Rompeprop line up and who plays what instrument?
Steve - Ok, here are our ingredients...Rompeprop is :

Baz - Who would you say are your main influences?
Steve - Well, people often say Rompeprop is a mix of Impetigo, NCC, CBT, Manowar [if you're not into metal, you are not my friend!] and Gut, but we have a lot of faves obviously. We just like fuckin vocal effects and there are lots of people who think it is face. But if you think vocal effects are fake, then don't use a distortion on your guitar, because that's also fake then!!??!?!? Fuck off, we just love such vocals and my oice is just an over the top downtuned instrument that makes the cadavers ooze out of your speakers! But it is obvious we don't take ourselves too serious. Just listen to the songtitles : Vaginal Luftwaffe, Embryoyo, The Erected Underwater Necro-Clitstomper, Pelicancock, Dislocated Purple Stoma, Vulcanic Eskimo, Pussyjuice Chup-A-Chup...anyhow, I think you get the idea
Baz - I have seen some photos of your live show and it looks crazy as fuck with your hilarious outfits - do you enjoy playing live and do the costumes make it more fun?
Steve - Yeah, when we started the band, I told the others that I didn't want to be a so called t-shirt/jeans band. Too many bands have a poor live performance and you lose interest [if you don't know the songs] after let's say 4 songs. I talk a lot on stage with the crowd, our bassmummy menstruates so now and then and I squeeze my colostomy bag and squirt the fake shit on myself and dirty volunteers, while telling a story to the crowd with a chipmunks on helium voice or something. People like to be entertained and Rompeprop therefore is an entertain Goregrindshow! We have a lot of fun and hope the people will join us in our fun! And the do...last show I had a midget, wearing a Rompeprop shirt suckin completely pissed and I really laughed ; I never had a midget suckin my cock! He didn't care and we bought him some beers afterwards [although he had enough already].
Baz - The way you and your band dress onstage and the clothes you are all wearing on the cover for your new release Hellcock's Pornflakes suggest that you don't take yourselves seriously and like to have fun with your music. To what extent is this true?
Steve - As I said already, Rompeprop is an entertaining show. The combination of sick humour, gore, porn and grind is awesome! Lots of bands only say 'the next song is called...' and 'thank you'. I get bored after 4 songs. Make fun with the crowd, that is what it is all about as far as we're concerned.
Baz - Is there any chance of you guys playing live UK at any point in the future?
Steve - Obviously, although the Gore and Grind scene in the UK is rather poor isnt' it? That's too bad, because I always love cumming to England! I've spent some excellent times in Liverpool! Like Gorerotted for instance. One of the bestlive acts in the scene as far as we're concerned. I heard they play sometimes for like 10 people!!! Man, Gorerotted is so fuckin aggressive onstage! Hope to play with them one time! But, if someone is able to organise a Grind and Gore show in the UK, please think of us! We fuckin love to meet you sick gory pornfucks!
Baz - You created the front cover for old skool Swiss band Exulceration's split album with Putrid Offal, a fucking classic release. Are you still in contact with this band and are the members still making music, and would you collaborate with them if the opportunity came about?
Steve - That's a long time ago, I think I met them in 1990 as a true Exulceration freak [vocals and way of drumming ruled back then!] They asked me to draw something. Just a zombiehead, so I did. It turned out a real nasty one, although I didn't like that the cover art stayed completely white! Now its a real arsekicker! I lost contact long ago, but imagine they're back on track again, I would definitely co-operate with them! One of the first harmonizer/pitchshifter vocals I had ever heard, together with Exit 13, Carnage demo, Carcass Reek... and old Regurgitate stuff.
