Rama
IX Square
A major office development
proposed for a site in Rama III (adjacent to Central Rama III shopping
complex).
A number of architects are involved in this project including well
known international firms Helmut, Obata
& Kasabuam Inc (HOK) and RTKL
& Associates. |

Dome
Located on Paholyothin
Road, north of central Bangkok, the Bangkok Dome include a high-end
shopping centre, a mini-theme park, exhibition centre, a 40storey+
office tower and condominium towers. This project has been hold
since 1998, a source reports
that construction work on the shopping centre component will resume
later this year (related
article).

Chateau
de Chao Phraya
Located near Menam Hotal,
these four asymmetrical towers (44 storey each) are joined together
by a podium and
features
an artificial waterfall at the lower plaza levels. According to
a recent report
in the Bangkok Post (February 2003) the project which is already
50-60% finished may be formally revived in the near future.

Sathorn
Square
The preliminary design
features two 49 storey towers (206m high) to be built next to the
old Russian Embassy site on South Sathorn Rd. This is a joint project
between North Sathorn Realty Group and Golden
Land Property Group. Construction will begin in early 2004.
The winning scheme on the left is chosen from 10 other from a competiton
which include big architecture firms such as Fosters and Partners.
The
developer's website indicates
that there are two competing schemes for the project and the final
design has not been chosen. The other proposal (below) includes
a 40-storey hotel and serviced luxury apartment tower, a separate
high-class condominium tower and a 40,000-sqm-retail mall.

Located on the bank of
the Chao Phraya River, the project comprises a mid-rise hotel, three
high rise condominium towers (45 storeys each), and an office tower
totalling 2 million sq feet of lettable space.

City Hall
A
design competition was held in 1997 for a new city hall and head
office for the Bangkok Metropolitan
Administration , to be
located on
Mitmaitri Road, Din Daeng
(near the Thai-Japanese stadium). The
winning design concept (left) is by Design & Develop Architects
and Arun Chaiseree Consulting Engineers.
This plan envisage a 32 storey (148m tall) main office tower, two
22 storey office towers and a convening hall. The City Hall project
has a total floor space of 291,762sqm.

Marina
A luxury resort development
in Chacheongsao (East of Bangkok). The project features lowrise
apartments / hotel plus a 40+ storey main tower.

City Development
The Sahaviraya (SV)
City waterfront development include a number of highrise enclave
on the banks of the Chao Phraya and with frontages to Rama III Road.
Each project consist of highrise apartments, leisure and entertainment
areas and retail centres. So far the only completed project is SV
City (Riverfront Residence).

Office Complex
The
project includes four 34 storey office towers and a 46 storey office
tower infront of the project. The towers will provide more than
300,000 sq.m. of a prime office spaces. Two of the 34 storey tower
already leased to EXXON Company which is now setting it's regional
Headquater here in Bangkok.

A major retail, commercial
and residential development on Rama 3 Road. designed by RTKL
in association with Plan Architect Pty Ltd. The shopping complex

Rama 3
opened last year.

Metro City Development
Included in the contract
which the Thai government awarded to Bangkok Land to construct an
overhead metro system for Bangkok (now superseded by the MRTA
subway) was a concession to develop area above the railway's
depot. Metro City is a self-contained city service by two railway
stations, comprises 50,000 residential units, 500,000square metres
of commercial and retail space, two 93 storey 'Grand Central' towers,
a sport stadium, major parks and recreational areas. The project
is designed by Australian based architects Nation Fenders (now part
of a new practice Nation Fenders Katsalidis), also the designer
of
Muang Thong Thani,
Bangkok's largest sattellite city.
