Guided Tour Of Reston On W&OD

W&OD Mile 18.

What is now Reston was the town of Wiehle, a failed utopian experiment; and then briefly Sunset Hills.

More Links About Old Reston

A gifted writer on the subject of Sunset Hills

  1. Wiehle House, 1902, owned by Prison Fellowship International. An imposing house of twenty-five rooms.
  2. Wiehle Town Hall, 1900 also used as an United Brethren church building, and later used as a warehouse for a whiskey distillery. Little more than a stone shell now, it was owned by a non-profit organization for a number of years. A developer recently purchased it to restore it -- in its new life it will be an office building. This restoration will be a small victory and a rare one in Fairfax County.
  3. gazebo 1901 of which the foundation is an 19th-Century icehouse.
