In roughly February of 2006, Trek and Admiral had just gotten around to picking up and playing Counter-Strike: Source, and as per the usual occurrence, the two friends decided to form a clan. The two friends started the clan as being a pub clan (no personal server), deciding on the acronym "TNB", thus "Take Notice Bitches" was born. As they began to recruit more of their friends, Trek set up the initial website at Yahoo Geocities (in future updates, there will be a link to an old mirror of the site) with a very simplistic layout showing the roster and a brief explanation of the clan motto; "Pwning n00bs all over the world, Take Notice Bitches".
As the clan grew beyond the initial four members, Trek took the step and purchased the clan a 33-tick 10-slot server. Having now had enough members to enter a league, Trek entered the clan into TWL or Team Warfare League. After several humiliating defeats, TNB nearly fell apart but now having an official server the clan was able to recruit more skilled members. The new members brought with them strats and skills that TNB desperately needed. With a larger roster and better strats, TNB member's skills increased, thus their match wins grew.
Following the collapse of rival clan cBa, several of their members joined TNB fulltime complimenting the skills TNB already possessed. The confidence of the members of TNB grew substantially and at some point someone suggested joining the fabled CAL or Cyberathlete Amateur League . Trek, as clan leader, was unsure of how to proceed - he didn't know if TNB was good enough to go CAL. To reassure himself and the clan, several scrims were found via IRC and when the team went double overtime against a CAL-I clan (the highest possible rung in CAL), Trek gave his approval and work began to make sure the clan would be ready for CAL-Open in the fall.
The realization was harsh for the clan, in order to compete in CAL the clan needed to maintain at least one 100-tick server. The clan needed sponsorships to afford such utilities, and it was very clear that TNB would not be an appropriate name, at least for any sponsor to feel comfortable with their logo nearby. After much debate, the name "Day of Reckoning" with the tag "DR | name" was decided on. A new layout was given to the website and with four members working on it, it was much easier going. However, dealing with TWL regarding the name change was difficult, showing up for matches with the tag "DR" instead of "TNB" confused other clans leading to many disputes.
With a new name, new website and the problems with TWL worked out, DR was ready to continue battling in the league. After several match disputes, rival clans not showing up on time, server problems, match legitimacy in question, and DR clan members not showing up for practice or matches, DR pulled out from the Team Warfare League.
That's not to say this was the end for DR, the clan shifted gears and began to enforce a new code of conduct. Leadership positions shifted to those who had shown dedication and skill within the clan, not going to those who simply paid money. Upon leaving TWL, the clan began randomly scrimming with other clans. DR played against a top 10 ranked CAL-O clan (which their legitimacy goes without question, several members know them personally outside of the internet), to which DR lost 5 to 16 - not bad for a clan starting at the bottom rung.
Following a catastrophic harddrive crash, and being regulated to a smaller hard drive, Trek discovered CAL was offering a Unreal Tournament 2004 league. After installing UT2004 again, found that he was just as good (if not better) than before. His skills, having been boosted by the time spent in Counter-Strike: Source, were unmatched in the online servers he joined. Upon finding out several other members also shared similar skills in UT2004, Trek and Juggernaut (the Co-Leader as of the leadership shift) founded the UT2004 division of DR. Following this new division creation, the website was given a new face once again.
As one can see, this clan was made with the goal to have fun, never at the start of this clan did anyone believe that it could go anywhere. DR has been blessed with several dedicated and skilled members, people who are more than willing to make this clan their fulltime job. DR is expecting to do well in the upcoming fall season, and more than likely you'll see us at more prestigious competitions. Now with the clan branching into two games, your "Day of Reckoning" will come when you least expect it.
At the moment of writing this (06/05/2006), Day of Reckoning has several sponsorships pending. Check back frequently for more updates.
