FREESERVE:
I never had a problem with them ever until now and just got to realise how bloody ridiculous it is that you can use anything before the @ sign with a freeserve pop server account. I discovered you could do it within a week of having the account in 1999 and Spammers certainly know that too. Spam programmes do not work because although you can SOMETIMES bounce them back they simply give you a HI from a hotmail account somewhere and see that it comes through when they use an email not currently from a blacklisted server.
Anyway, thought I would show you the emails going back and forth and the crap answers back I am getting and today's reply just took the biscuit.

Is it possible to be able to change the main part of our email address
after
the @ but still use the username for our broadband account.
We are getting so much spam email now we feel we need to change our
freeserve email address if possible.
regards
Connie Gurney.
Dear Sir / Madam,
Thank you for your email.
Unfortunately you cannot change the main body of the e-mail address as
it makes up your username as well, if you would like a new e-mail
address you could sign up for a no-ties account just for the e-mail
address.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Kind regards

Freeserve Broadband Technical Support
So then I asked....
In that case then are we able to change our user account with you then?
Spammers know that they can use anything before the @ with freeserve
accounts.
Regards
Connie Gurney
Dear Mrs Gurney ,
Thank you for your email regarding your email address, it is possible to
change the part of your email address before the @ sign it does not
matter what you use.
Your username is everything after the @ sign on your email account and
this is the important part of the address.
You can make a new email address by going to the Freeserve home page and
signing up for free email, you will need to keep your Broadband email as
you will be asked to confirm this if you have to contact technical or
customer support.
I do hope this information is of help to you.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Kind regards.
Gail Eyre.
(I already told them about being able to use anything before the @ sign dumb ass Gail. I was asking can we change our account altogether!!)
So I replied...
I know you can use anything before the @ sign unfortunately spammers
know it
too.
So even if I use a spam stopper it does not stop mail coming into my box
because they will use anything before the @ sign of
deepsea99.freeserve.co.uk it has now got to the stage that we either
change
our user account name or sign up with another isp.
It was suggested I sign up for a no ties account but that is web based
mail
and we already have broadband so why sign up for more internet access
settings.
regards Connie Gurney
THEN I WANTED TO KNOW IF YOU CAN USE ONE IN A POP SERVER EMAIL PROGRAMME LIKE MICROSOFT EXPRESS
THEN SOMEONE SUGGEST I USE A SPAM STOPPER!!!
Dear connie,
Thank you for your email.
The best thing that i can advise you is to go to www.google.com, and
type in - Spam Blockers - , then download a pieces of software and
install it onto your computer. this can prevent spams entering your mail
box.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Kind regards
damian

Freeserve Broadband Technical Support
(I already told them spam stoppers wont work with freeserve accounts, so I replied again)
Ok you can't help me, you give me advise on what I am already telling you.
If we can't change our main user account with you then we have no choice but to switch to AOL who have good spam and filter blockers within their package. It isn't like the direct debit payments are coming from deepsea99.freeserve.co.uk

Connie Gurney
Then to top if all off I get this , this morning.
Dear Connie,
Thank you for your email.
If you go to the freeserve homepage, and click on No Ties here you can
create another account and set it as your Default. This will give you
another email address which you can use.
If you have any further queries then please do not hesitate to get in
contact with us again.
Kind regards
Damian
HAHAHAH They are completley incapable of telling me what I want to know.
So I have asked again..
Right ok I was sent to make a new mail address with freeserve which was web based only .
Ok so No Ties email account but I will ask the same question I already did which no one answered.
Can you use a no ties email account in email programmes like microsoft outlook express AND seeing as it has internet dial up settings is it going to cost us to read/send the email on top of our broadband charges. If so you are having a laugh.
