�Nick wanted me to give this to you.� She handed her a piece of paper.
�What is it?� MyKenna shrugged and Dakota unfolded it. MyKenna looked at her and Dakota read what was on the paper to herself; I want to thank you for all the things you�ve done/but most for choosing me to be the one/its funny how life can take new meaning/you came and changed what I believe in/the world on the outside trying to pull me in/but they can�t touch me �cause I got you/and it hits me when I reach for you/that I�m afraid you won�t be there/maybe I am in too deep/but I don�t care�Marriot Hotel�21st Floor�room 2115�I love you. Dakota sighed and wiped her eyes.
�What�s it say?�
�Can you excuse us, Fran?� The stylist nodded and walked out. �Ya know Nick�s song �I Got You�?�
�Yeah.�
�Well it�s sort of like his song to me. He said no one can do anything to him, because he has me and he feels stronger and shit when I�m around and vice versa.�
�So it�s like an anthem for you two?�
�Sort of.� MyKenna nodded. �Anyway he wrote some of those lyrics. He did the same thing on Valentine�s when I was mad at him. This song changes my mind every time I hate him.�
�You don�t hate him.�
�Yes I do and I hate him right now.� She left out a disgusted sigh and got up. �He does this every fucking time. Whenever I have my mind made up he does this. He uses some line I want to hear and I fall for it every time only to get my heart ripped out and stomped on.� She took a deep breath. �This time it�s not going to work. I don�t care what lines he uses, because it�s not going to work.�
�DJ, I think this time he means them. You didn�t see him earlier. He was a mess and he knows he made a mess of things between you two. He wants nothing more than to talk to you. You can tell he loves you so much and if you just talk to him you will see how much he does. He won�t tell anyone why he cheated, but I think he really wants to tell you. You�re the one he owns an explanation to and no one else.� Dakota just looked at her. �I know you love him and I�ve been reminding you of that for the past three months. You have to talk to Nickolas so you guys can put this all behind you. He wants you back and I know you want him back. Look at me and Aaron. He broke up with me and I worked my ass off to get him to talk to me again and it worked in the end. We�re finally back together because we talked. You�re not going to get Nick back if you don�t talk to him. God, I feel like I�m repeating myself, but rewording certain things.�
�I�d love to talk to him, but I�m really busy.�
�Don�t give me that bullshit.� They looked at each other and Dakota looked at the piece of paper. �Look at all the times Nick has been there for you. He was there for you when we were robbed. He�s been there when you�ve been sick. He�s been there when you thought the whole world was against you. He�s been there for you through everything the past three years and vice versa. You guys have been through so much and you can�t just forget it never happened. You can�t just go on and forget all about Nick.�
�Sometimes I think it�d be for the best, ya know. Sometimes I�ll just sit there and think about all the times he broke my heart and I wonder what it would be like if we hadn�t meant. Then I�ll start thinking about all those good times we spent together and realize I couldn�t have it any better and I couldn�t be any happier. He makes me so crazy and I hate him for it.�
�You love him.� Dakota grinned. �Not that I blame you. He is a looker after all.� She laughed and Dakota chuckled. �And a pretty good kisser too.� Dakota looked at her and she smiled. �I�m sure he kisses you better though.� Dakota grinned. �Why don�t you go and talk to him?�
�I�m afraid to.�
�You were never afraid to talk to Nick about anything.�
�I know, but this time it�s different. He cheated on me and things aren�t the same between us anymore.�
�Are you going to let that stop you from finding out the truth?� Dakota just looked at her. �What are you going to do then? How are you going to find out the truth?�
�You.�
�No; there�s no way in hell I�m going to be your go between. I refuse to do it. Aaron and I just got back together and I want to concentrate on us. I don�t want to be the messenger between you and Nickolas. You have to talk about this face to face. If I have to lock you two in a room together to get it done then I will. I don�t care what I have to do to get you two in the same room, but I�ll do it. You and Nick are my friends and I want you both happy. You guys aren�t happy right now, because you�re apart. You�re apart, because Nick made a horrible mistake and hurt you, but you won�t talk to him to find out why. If you talk to him and find out why then you guys can work on being together again and happy like you once were. This ain�t going to go away if you don�t talk to each other about it. You guys have to put away your anger and just talk. I�m tired of being stuck in the middle and I�m sure Aaron is too.� Dakota just looked at her surprised. She had no idea MyKenna felt this way.
�I don�t want you guys to go through this.�
�So talk to Nick so we don�t. Maybe you guys went wrong somewhere in your relationship and it led up to Nick cheating. You�re not going to know though unless you talk to Nick about it.�
�And what if he doesn�t give me a reason why? I�ll be back to where I was three months ago.�
�You don�t know that.�
�And you do? All I wanted was the truth and I never got it. What makes you so certain he wants to be honest now?� MyKenna looked at her and then reached in her pocket.
�Because he wants me to give this back to you.� She put the ring in Dakota�s hand and she looked at it.
�My promise ring.�
�That has to mean something.� Dakota continued looking at the ring and MyKenna watched her. �He honestly genuinely loves you and you�re a fool if you don�t believe in that.�
�Can you just leave me�please?�
�Are you sure?� Dakota nodded. �Ok.� MyKenna hugged her. �Please think about talking to Nick and feel better.�
�Yes to both.�
�Thank you.� Dakota grinned and they ended there hug. �Things will work out for you and Nick.� Dakota just nodded. �I�ll see ya later.�
�See ya.� MyKenna walked out and Dakota looked at the ring.
