| Why does she have to come along? Jenai whispered to Nickolas, as she glared across the plane at Kendra. Who? Nickolas asked. Her over there, Jenai said and Nickolas looked. Kendra? Jenai nodded. Uh, yeah. Kev said itll be good training for her. Besides, shes a good detective and a nice person. If I knew you had a thing for hookers I wouldve made a career move. He looked at her. What are you talking about? Kendra Morgans a whore. She works Hollywood Boulevard. Remember how I said she looked familiar? Nickolas nodded. Thats where I saw her; Hollywood Boulevard. She goes from cop to call girl in a few hours. How sure are you? Very sure. I dont know, JJ. I mean shes a sweet lady. And youre an idiot. He grinned. Kev said itd just be me and you and a couple other officers from Kentucky patrolling the outside. Are ya jealous that another beautiful woman is going along? She made a face and said, Hell no. I thought you were against us being alone together anyway? Well I thought about it and I guess it wasnt such a bad idea. Nickolas just looked at her and raised an eyebrow. Ok the truth is that I was looking forward to us spending this time alone. Why? He was completely interested now. Im all ears. She grinned. I was just hoping we could use this time to talk. We were going to be alone and I thought itd be a great opportunity. We can still talk. Not with her around. Then act like shes not around. Ill do better than that. How? Ill constantly pick fights with her so were at each others throats and shell have no choice but to go back to L.A. Youd do that just so we can be alone together? Dont get your hopes up, Detective, its just so we can talk. Of course. She doesnt look like shes a nice person so it should be pretty damn easy to start some fights with her. Nickolas shook his head. Do you think Im a mean person? He smiled. Of course not. I think youre a very sweet person. She smiled. Hot-headed, but sweet. Ditto. They laughed. So who is Kendra partnered with? Uh, Rich. After Chris left Kev partnered Justin with Jakob and Rich with Kendra. Oh. Rich is leaving in a few weeks and were getting a new female detective from uptown. Jenai nodded. The women are starting to invade our territory. He chuckled. Why dont you come and invade? Its not my thing. You know Im a dancer. Hows that coming along? She shrugged. Im still doing the rehab thingkind of anyway. Is your knee any better? Yeah, but Dr. Shanks wants me to wait a year to be on the safe side. He nodded. I dance at home sometimes just because I get bored and I love dancing. Of course you do. You know I do. He smiled. You still owe me a private show. No I dont. He nodded. Well youre not getting one anytime soon. Why not? Because youre not and I dont want to hear anything more on this subject. Yes, maam. They sat in silence a few minutes, as Jenai read her book. Nickolas watched her for a little before noticing Kendra sit beside him. Hi, Kendra said. Hey, Nickolas said and Jenai glanced at them. I got bored over there all by my lonesome, Kendra said. Theres a surprise, Jenai said sarcastically and Nickolas looked at her, as did Kendra. The sluts just looking to get laid. Excuse me? Nickolas said and Jenai looked at him. What was that? Oh, its the girl in this book, Jenai lied. Shes a big ass slut and this great guy is blinded to see that all she wants is the nookie. Right, Nickolas said and Jenai grinned. So anyway, Nick, Kendra began, I was just wondering if you wanted to get together sometime after this is all over with and were back home. Jenai glared at her. Um Nickolas said looking at Jenai. Im, uh, actually kind of interested in someone else at the moment. Jenai grinned. And besides its against the station rules for two co-workers to get involved. Thats only on TV, Kendra said. No its not, Jenai said. Ask Kevin. Whatever, Kendra said. Whats the story with you two anyway? With who? Jenai asked. You and the sergeant, Kendra replied. Family friends, Jenai stated. And its none of your business anyway. Just trying to make conversation, Kendra said. Well I dont want conversation, Jenai rebutted. Especially with you. Is she always like this? Kendra questioned. Like what? Nickolas asked in return. A bitch, Kendra replied. Ok thats it, Jenai said slamming her book shut and getting up. Do you want some of this shit? I have a black belt in Karate and I was the top student in my martial arts class. I aint afraid of you, Kendra said. Oh no, Jenai said. Then lets go. Well see how much youre afraid once I get done. Is this kid for real? Kendra wanted to know. Shes threatening an officer of the law. Jenai went to go after her, but Nickolas got up stopping her and said, No ones threatening anyone and no ones kicking the shit out of anyone. He looked at Jenai. Understood? She just looked at him, as the flight attendant approached. Is everything all right here? she asked and they all just looked at each other a moment. Do I need to get security? No, everythings just peachy, Jenai said glaring at Kendra. For now. Jenai sat back down, as the flight attendant walked away. Nickolas looked at the two ladies and shook his head while sitting down himself. This is going to be a long, long stay. Just try to get along with her, Nickolas pleaded. If not for yourself then for me. I dont have to do anything for you, Jenai rebutted and Nickolas sighed. I can keep the peace as long as she keeps her distance, Kendra stated. Ya know, Jenai started, if it wasnt for Sergeant Richardson you wouldnt be going on this little vacation with us and still be back at the 10th precinct trying to keep domestic disturbances under control. Youre in the big leagues now, Detective, and youre going to be dealing with all kinds of shit and people including me. If you cant handle the heat then I highly suggest you stay out of the kitchen and go back to the 10th. If I were you Id call Kevin and request a transfer back. Hell Ill be glad to do it for you. Im up to speed on this case, Kendra replied. If I couldnt handle it I wouldnt be here right now. Youre nothing but a snotty spoiled little bitch. How old are we again? Jenai asked. I thought the name calling stopped when ya hit senior high. I guess I was wrong though. Why dont you be an adult and go back over to your side of the plane and leave Detective Carter and I alone. I dont take orders from you, Kendra said. Why dont you just do what she says, Detective, Nickolas suggested. She can get ratherumnasty. Kendra just looked at them. Then go call Sergeant Richardson and tell him well be landing soon. She just continued looking at him. Do it now, Detective, or Ill turn you in for disobeying orders. You may be older than I am, but Sergeant Richardson put in charge and youll do as I say and not as I do. Understood? She glared at him and then got up and walked away. That goes for you as well, Miss Richardson. Youre going to love this power thing, arent you? Jenai questioned and Nickolas only smiled.
