Every time he looked at Jenai he felt the same thing. Every time he was right next to her he felt the same thing. Every time someone whispered her name he felt the same thing. He felt something he never felt before and he liked it. He was in love for the first time and he was in love with Jenai. He didn�t think it anymore, because he finally knew it. He loved Jenai and this case was going to get personal; something he didn�t want to happen.
He sighed and heard the nurse whisper, �Detective, I brought a pillow and blanket for Miss Richardson.� He looked at the nurse.
�Oh, thank you,� Nickolas said getting up and taking the stuff from the nurse.
�Can I get you anything?� the nurse asked.
�No thanks,� Nickolas said. �I�m fine.�
�Alright,� the nurse said. �Just let me know if you do.�
�I will,� Nickolas said and the nurse walked out. He walked over to Jenai and covered her with the blanket. He gently lifted her head and put the pillow under.
He stood there looking at her and he heard Dannika�s voice, �I was so ready to kick the shit out of her. She was really pissing me off.�
�Shh,� Nickolas said looking at Dannika and Jakob. �JJ is finally getting some sleep.�
�Oh sorry,� Dannika whispered.
�How�s Justin doing?� Jakob asked.
�He�s fine,� Nickolas replied. �Dr. Erikson�s with him now doing some tests.�
�How�s JJ?� Jakob asked.
�She�s fine,� Nickolas said. �Doc ordered her to get some rest. She was up all night keeping vigil over Justin.�
�What about you?� Dannika asked. �You look like you could use a few Z�s.�
�Yeah,� Nickolas said rubbing his eyes.
�Then why don�t you go back to the cabin and get some rest,� Jakob suggested. �Take JJ with you and Dani and I will stay here with Justin and call if he gets worse or whatever.� Nickolas looked at Jenai and then nodded.
�Alright,� Nickolas said, as Jakob walked over to Jenai and Nickolas looked at her.
Dannika looked at Nickolas and grinned, as she said, �You don�t want to be alone with her.� Nickolas looked at her.
�Wh-what do ya mean?� Nickolas asked.
�Don�t play stupid with me,� Dannika said. �It�s pretty obvious how you feel about her, Nick, and being alone together doesn�t help matters.� Nickolas didn�t say anything and she smiled. �How does she feel?�
�It has to stay professional, Dani, or else I�ll lose my job,� Nickolas stated.
�JJ won�t mind that,� Dannika smirked. �She does have a thing against cops and you losing your job JJ will use that to her advantage.�
�That�s nice,� Nickolas began, �but nothing�s going to happen like I said a million times before.�
�As long as this case is going on,� Dannika said. �Right?�
�I said I�m not leaving, Jakob,� Jenai rebutted and they looked at her, as she got up. �I�m staying here with Justin.�
�You have to get some sleep, Jenai, and get something to eat,� Jakob stated.
�I�m fine,� Jenai said. �Nick, tell him I�m fine.�
�I, uh�� Nickolas said shrugging and she glared at him.
�Just go back to the cabin and get some sleep,� Jakob ordered.
�What about Justin?� Jenai asked.
�We�ll stay here with him,� Dannika replied.
�We�ll call if there�s any change,� Jakob added.
Jenai just looked at them a moment then asked, �What about Vin?�
�The police have every available man looking for him,� Nickolas said. �They�ll most likely find him before he gets to you.�
�They didn�t find him earlier when he called,� Jenai said.
�What are you talking about?� Jakob questioned.
�Davis called me earlier,� Nickolas stated. �He just asked how Justin was doing and made me believe for a second he had JJ.�
�Did he try anything?� Jakob asked and Nickolas shook his head.
�I tried getting the hospital security to help look for him, but the C.O.S. had to be a prick and not allow it,� Nickolas replied. �I tried reasoning with him, but he wouldn�t listen.�
�I�ll talk to him,� Jakob said.
�He�s an ass, Jake, and he�s not going to listen to you,� Jenai rebutted. �You�re just going to be wasting your time.�
�It doesn�t hurt to try,� Jakob said. �You and Nick go back to the cabin and Dani and I will try to work something out with Mr. C.O.S.�
�It�s Phillip Black,� Nickolas pointed out.
�Gotcha,� Jakob said. �Now just go back to the cabin.�
�I don�t�� Jenai began and Jakob held up his hand to stop her.
�Just go,� Jakob said. �I�ll call every hour and update you on Justin�s condition, ok?� Jenai just looked at him and then at Nickolas.
�That sounds good,� Nickolas said. �Let�s go, Miss Richardson.�
��JJ�, Detective,� Jenai said through gritted teeth. �Quit addressing me so formally.�
�Then quit calling me �Detective�,� Nickolas said.
�Well that�s what you are and this is staying professional, Detective Carter,� Jenai said.
�Ditto to the latter, Miss Richardson,� Nickolas agreed and Jenai glared at him. Dannika and Jakob shook their heads and Jenai started walking away. �Where the hell do you think you�re going?�
�To check up on Justin if that�s ok,� Jenai said continuing to walk and Nickolas watched her walk out of view.
�Ya know, when this case is over,� Jakob started, �you two better do something about that sexual tension.�
�What sexual tension?� Nickolas asked playing dumb.
�We�re not stupid, Carter,� Jakob replied. �We notice that tension between you two.�
�Whatever,� Nickolas said.
�Why deny what everyone already knows?� Dannika asked. �Even that slut Kendra knows ya want JJ. We know why you denied it when she was around, but you don�t have to anymore.�
�She�s right, ya know,� Jakob agreed. �I�d go back to the cabin with her myself, but you could really use a shower yourself.�
�Screw you,� Nickolas said and Jakob laughed.
�Ok I�m ready,� Jenai said rejoining them and they looked.
�How�s Justin?� Dannika questioned.
�Fine,� Jenai answered. �You guys can come back to the cabin also.�
�What about Justin?� Jakob asked. �I thought you wanted us here?�
�Well, yeah,� Jenai began, �but he�s going down for tests and Dr. Erikson said it�ll be for a couple hours. You can stay and do nothing if ya want, but you�ll be bored out of your mind.� She grinned.
�Do you really want us to go?� Jakob asked. �Don�t you want some alone time together with Nick?�
�Um, let me think about that a second,� Jenai started, �no.� Nickolas looked at her. �So let�s go.� They looked at her and she walked out of the waiting room.
�Oh, Miss Richardson,� Roberts said stopping her. �I was looking for you.�
�Why?� Jenai asked.
�I think we found the guy you were looking for,� Roberts said.
�What? Where is he?� Jenai wanted to know.
�He�s in ER 5,� Roberts said. �This way.� He started leading Jenai over, as Nickolas, Jakob, and Dannika joined them.
�What�s going on?� Nickolas asked.
�He�s in there,� Roberts said.
�JJ,� Nickolas said. She hesitated a moment then pushed the door open and Nickolas followed her.
