Hows Justin doing? Nickolas asked, as Jenai sat across from him in the waiting room and she looked at him.
Hes still sleeping, Jenai replied and Nickolas gave a slight nod. Jenai picked up a magazine and started paging through it. Nickolas looked at her, as she threw the magazine down and sat back. He watched as she rubbed her eyes and then put her hands behind her head. He checked out her 55 stretched out frame and smiled. Jenai opened her eyes and looked around the waiting room then stopped at a still smiling Nickolas. What are you smiling at?
Nothing, Nickolas lied and Jenai raised an eyebrow.
Whatever, Jenai said smiling. Wheres Dani?
She decided to ride along with Jakob to take Detective Boyd to the airport.
Oh. She sighed. I just needed someone to talk to.
Im here.
I know and nothing personal, but I need a girl friend.
Of course you do. They sat in silence a few minutes.
So what were you smiling at?
Nothing.
It was something so what was it?
Nothing personal, but I need a guy friend. He grinned.
Shit brick. She gave him the middle finger and he just continued smiling. So when do we have to leave?
The hospital?
Kentucky.
I dont know.
Dont lie. I know Kevin gave you a day.
He said we can stay as long as Justins in the hospital. Its been six months since Justins been in here so that has to mean something.
And Vin Davis is on the loose. She sighed disgustedly and got up. I cant believe hes letting us stay here.
Dont you want to stay here with Justin?
Yesno. Hell I dont know.
What do ya mean?
I want to stay here with Justin so I know that hes all right. Hes had three surgeries already and hes allergic to the medicine theyve been giving him. I dont want to leave so someone can call me and tell me that something happened to him, like he died or something. I want to be here if that happens, but I dont want to stay in Kentucky with Vin Davis out there somewhere wanting and waiting to kill me. Nickolas got up and walked over to her. This guy raped me and Bri and Al and he killed them and I justI dont She quickly wiped her tears away and looked at Nickolas.
Well find him and Ill make sure he pays for hurting you.
I dontI dont want him to be free to hurt another teenage girl. She went to wipe her eyes again, but Nickolas stopped her. He took her face in his hands and wiped away her tears with his thumbs.
Its ok to cry.
I dont want to cry anymore. I want this all to be over and I wantI want Vin dead.
I understand. He hugged her.
I havent been the same since that night. My lifes been spiraling out of control the past ten years and
You dont have to talk about this.
Since Ive been talking about what happened Ive come to learn that I feel better about it, ya know.
Yeah.
Well I think so anyway. She wiped her eyes on his shoulder and kept a hold of him. Its not that I feel better about what happened I just feel better talking about it. Ya know, getting it off my chest.
It feels like a big weight has been lifted off your shoulders.
Exactly, but it hurts talking about it.
I told you, you dont have to talk about it.
I know.
Im here if you ever want to though.
I know that too.
Im glad.
Im sorry to interrupt, the nurse said, but, Detective Carter, you have a phone call. Jenai and Nickolas left each other go and looked at the nurse.
Who is it? Nickolas asked.
They wouldnt give a name, the nurse replied. You can take it out here at the desk.
Ok, Nickolas said, as the nurse walked away. Stay here and Ill be right back. Jenai nodded and Nickolas walked out of the waiting room and to the nurses station.
Theyre on line two, the nurse said and Nickolas picked up the phone.
This is Carter, Nickolas said into the phone.
Hows the patient, Detective?
Davis.
Good guess.
A lot of people are looking for you.
Im not surprised. I did shoot a cop after all and you guys tend to take it personally.
Were like family.
Whatever.
Why dont you turn yourself in and maybe well go easy on ya.
Cant do that.
Why not? Vin didnt say anything for a few moments and Nickolas heard him moan. You didnt skip out on me did ya, Vin?
Why would I do that? I cant turn myself in, because its not part of the plan.
There doesnt have to be any plan, Davis, just turn yourself in.
I think youre going to have to make a choice, Pretty Boy.
What are you talking about?
You really shouldnt leave that sexy brunette alone. Ya never know whos lurking around. Nickolas dropped the phone and ran back to the waiting room, getting out his gun.
JJ! Nickolas ran into the waiting room and saw Jenai sitting there alone looking at a magazine. JJ. She looked at him and saw his gun.
Nick, Jenai said. Whats going on? She slowly got up and just looked at him.
Are you all right? Nickolas questioned going over to her.
Im fine, Jenai answered. Whats going on?
That was Davis on the phone.
What? Hes here?
I dont know. I think so.
Well find him then. Dont let him wander this hospital looking for me. He looked at her then dragged her out of the waiting room. I do want my arm though, Detective. He looked at her and grinned, as they approached hospital security. I want this hospital locked down. No ones allowed to leave.
Thats not up to me, Sir, the guy said and Nickolas showed him his badge.
LAPD and this is official police business, Nickolas stated. There is a murderer wandering your corridors. Unless you want to find dead bodies and rape victims I suggest you lock the doors.
The guy just looked at him and then said into his radio, I need all available security to lock the doors and be on the look out for He looked at Nickolas. Who are we looking for?
A Caucasian male, Nickolas replied. Hes about 6, early-mid 30s, medium built
Hes a white version of Kobe Bryant, Jenai explained. Ya cant miss him. His names Vin Davis.
The guy nodded and said into his walkie, Be on the lookout for a Caucasian male who resembles Kobe Bryant. He answers to the name Vin Davis.
Roberts, who gave you the ok to do a lock down? Someone asked angrily and they all looked. Who the hell are you?
Detective Nick Carter, L.A.P.D., Nickolas replied showing him his badge.
Well Im Phillip Black and Im chief-of-staff of this hospital, Phillip said. And I didnt give the ok for a lockdown.
This is official police business, Nickolas stated. There is a murderer wandering your hospital.
Well youre not declaring a lockdown, Phillip said grabbing the radio from the guard. All security personnel this is Phillip Black, chief-of-staff, of this hospital. Disregard that last order and continue your original business.
You have no idea what youre doing, Nickolas said. You have no idea how dangerous this man is.
This is my hospital, Detective, and there will be no lockdown, Phillip said walking away.
Cant you do anything? Jenai asked and Nickolas looked at her and sighed.
