�Hey, JJ,� Nickolas said, as Jenai walked by the table. She stopped walking and stood there a second then continued her way back to the bar. Nickolas sighed and looked at Kevin and Kristin. �I still have no idea what her problem is.�
�I think it�s still that cop thing,� Kristin said, but knew the truth. �She doesn�t want to get involved.�
�She has a stick up her ass,� Kevin said. �It�s been that way since October and that�s six months.�
�She can�t dance, Kevin,� Kristin reminded him. �And Callen�s murderer is still running free. I�d be a little bitchy too.�
�A little?� Kevin said. �She�s the Queen Bitch right now.�
�Can I get you anything?� Jenai asked and they looked. �And thanks for the compliment, Kev.� He just looked at her and grinned. �So do you guys want anything?�
�I�ll just have some cranberry juice,� Kristin said and Jenai wrote it down.
�A beer for me,� Kevin said.
�Make that two beers,� Nickolas added. �And a time when we can get together and talk.� Jenai just looked at him then walked away. �It�s impossible.�
�Nothing�s impossible, Nick,� Kristin said. �She just needs some time.�
�Do you know something we don�t?� Kevin questioned and Kristin looked at him. �What is it?�
�Nothing,� Kristin lied.
�There�s no need to lie,� Kevin replied and Kristin smiled.
�Hey, Sarge.� The three of them looked and saw a tall blonde standing there and smiling at them.
�Rookie,� Kevin said.
�Hi, Nick,� the girl said smiling even wider.
�Hey,� Nickolas said.
�Kristin, meet my new rookie, Kendra Morgan,� Kevin said. �Kendra, this is my wife Kristin.�
�Nice to meet you,� Kristin said.
�Likewise,� Kendra said.
�Please join us,� Kevin insisted.
�I guess I can until my friend gets here,� Kendra said sitting beside Nickolas.
�How do you like working with my boys?� Kristin asked.
�It�s cool,� Kendra said. �But weird being the only girl.�
�It won�t last long,� Kevin said. �After Cronin transfers we�re getting another girl.� They nodded.
�Sorry for the wait,� Jenai said putting their drinks on the table. She glanced at Nickolas then saw the girl sitting beside him. �Who the hell are you?�
�Jenai,� Kevin said forcefully.
�This is the new rookie,� Kristin said. �Kendra Morgan.�
�This is Jenai,� Kevin said.
�Hi,� Kendra said.
�I know you,� Jenai said.
�We never met,� Kendra said and Jenai just looked at her closely then walked away.
�She�s just in a bad mood,� Kevin stated.
�I never met her before,� Kendra replied.
�She probably confused you with someone else she met,� Nickolas said.
�Probably,� Kendra said.
�I�m going to go to the little girls� room,� Kristin said getting up. �Excuse me.� She walked away and Jenai joined them.
�My boss wants to see you, Kev,� Jenai said.
�Did he say what about?� Kevin asked and Jenai shook her head. �Excuse me.� He got up and walked away. Jenai and Nickolas looked at each other and then she started walking away.
�JJ, wait a sec,� Nickolas said getting up and going after her. She stopped and turned around.
�What?�
�Can we talk? Please?�
�About what?�
�What happened?� She shook her head. �I want to know.�
�I told you; you�re a cop and it�s not going to work.�
�I don�t believe that.�
�Why can�t you just leave this go? I made up my mind.�
�I deserve an explanation after all I�ve done for you to be safe.�
�I don�t want to talk about it.� He went to touch her and she pushed his hands away. �I have to get back to work.� She turned to walk from him and went to walk away, but got dizzy and fell into Nickolas.
�Woah!� He held onto her, as she stood there. �Are you all right?�
�I just got dizzy. I�m fine.�
�Are ya sure?�
�I�m fine, Nick.� She freed herself from his hold and walked away.
�What are you hiding, JJ?� Nickolas asked himself, as he watched Jenai. He stood there a moment and sighed then walked back to his table.

�I don�t know how I forgot about it,� Alexander began, �but Detective Fatone was here the night before harassing Callen. I had to have Howie throw him out.�
�You�re positive he was here though?� Kevin said.
�Positive.�
�Were they arguing at all?�
Alexander thought about it a moment then said, �Yes; I�m not sure what about, but I did hear him say that she would die first before she left him.�
�Was it said as a threat?�
�I guess it was. He did say it aggressively.�
�That�s another piece of evidence pointing to Fatone. If we could only find the son of a bitch.�
�Any leads?�
�None; we put an APB out on him, but nothing yet. If he wasn�t murdered himself he did a hell of a job covering his tracks.� Alexander nodded. �This case is driving me nuts and I�m not supposed to be talking about it with you.�
�I understand.�
�Is there anything else you can tell me about that night?�
�Nothing comes to mind, but if I remember anything again, I�ll let ya know.�
�You do that.�
�Good luck.�
�Thanks.� Kevin walked out of the office and back downstairs. He walked back to his table and noticed they were joined by Jakob and Justin. �Hey.�
�Hey, Sarge,� Justin said.
�What�s up?� Kevin asked.
�Nothing,� Jakob said. �We were just asking Kris what�s up JJ�s ass.�
�Like I said,� Kristin started, �I don�t know. As far as I know she�s still upset, because she can�t dance. Other than that I don�t know. You have to ask her.�
�Every time I do she gets pissed right away,� Jakob stated. �She thinks I don�t know there�s something wrong with her, but I do know and I�ll find out.�
�You shouldn�t push her, Jake,� Kristin said. �When she�s ready to talk she will.�
�We never kept anything from each other,� Jakob said.
�Well everyone�s allowed to have their secrets,� Kristin pointed out.
�I guess so,� Jakob said.
�I�m going to go check on JJ,� Kristin said. �That dizzy spell has me a little worried.� She got up and walked away.
�Dizzy spell?� Kevin said.
�JJ got dizzy earlier when I was talking to her,� Nickolas replied.
�She never got dizzy a day in her life,� Kevin stated.
�Well she did a half hour ago,� Nickolas said. �She said she was fine though.� Kevin nodded.
�I was upstairs with Alex and he said that Fatone was here the night before Callen was found,� Kevin said.
�He just remembered this?� Jakob asked.
�Yeah,� Kevin said. �He also said they were arguing and that Fatone told Callen that she would die first before she left him.�
�So she was threatening to leave him then,� Nickolas said. �And probably threatening to tell his little dirty secret.�
�Seems that way,� Kevin said.
�But according to JJ they weren�t together at the time Callen was murdered,� Nickolas said.
�I know,� Kevin said. �And that�s what I don�t understand.�
�So now what?� Justin asked.
�We continue our silent investigation,� Kevin said. �Nick and I will talk to JJ again and you two can talk to Fatone�s family.�
�What about Mr. and Mrs. Michaels?� Jakob asked.
�Only if it�s necessary,� Kevin replied. �They�ve been through enough already.� They all nodded. �I�m going to search his place again. We could�ve over looked something important.�
�We can search Callen�s again,� Jakob said.
�We got the box,� Kevin said.
�There could be something there that Callen didn�t tell JJ,� Nickolas said. �Something no one knows about.�
�You consider all possibilities don�t you?� Justin asked.
�That�s why I graduated the top of my class,� Nickolas replied. �And went straight to detective.� He grinned. �How�d you make detective?�
�I was the top of my class also,� Justin stated.
�That�s surprising,� Nickolas said. �I haven�t seen you use your brain at all since we joined the precinct.�
�Just because JJ doesn�t want you don�t take it out on me,� Justin said.
�Both of you shut up or find another table,� Kevin ordered. �Jenai wants neither of you so leave it at that.� They looked at him. �We have more important things to worry about than the lack of sex you two are getting.�
�They�re off duty, Kev,� Jakob stated. �They can talk about whatever they want.�
�I don�t care,� Kevin said. �There�s a murderer still out there and they most likely still have their sights on Jenai.�
�You always think the worse,� Jakob said and Kevin just looked at him. �JJ�s fine. She�s been fine for the past six months.� Kevin just looked at him, but said nothing.
