Will I be able to dance again, Brian? Jenai questioned and he just looked at her. If I can never dance again I might as well die right now. Dancing is my life and if I cant do that I have no reason to be on this earth.
Well know more when your knee heals, Brian said.
How long will that take? Kristin asked.
A couple weeks, Brian replied. When it heals Ill know more, like, if I have to do surgery or not. Jenai shook her head. I know how much dancing means to you, JJ, and Ill do my best in getting you back on stage.
I should just forget it, Jenai said. For as hard as this guy hit me, he probably just killed my future.
You shouldnt give up, Kristin said. You got this far and I know youll get farther.
I aint holding my breath, Jenai said.
Lets see those stitches, Brian said taking off the bandage from Jenais neck.
Kris fixed me, Jenai stated.
But Im the doctor, Brian said. If you stop moving around like a snake all the time, theyll heal faster.
I was almost hit by a car, Jenai said. What did ya want me to do? Let it hit me?
It wouldve if it wasnt for Detective Carter, Kristin stated. He saved your life.
Yeah, yeah, Jenai said. But hes an ass. She grinned. And a p.h.a.t. ass hes got. Brian and Kristin laughed. I guess I owe him for this afternoon.
Then invite him over for dinner tonight, Kristin suggested and Jenai gave her a weird look. Im serious.
Ill just send him a thank you card, Jenai replied. How does it look Dr. Littrell? Can ya save it?
I think so, Brian said. Youre just going to need more antibiotics.
Ugh! Jenai moaned. No more meds.
Well Im going to have to give ya more if you dont get those cysts on your ovaries taken care of. She looked at him. I thought you were going to get the surgery? She shrugged. Jenai, if ya dont get the surgery youll never have kids. Is that what ya want?
Did ya ever think that maybe Im waiting for it to kill me? Did ya ever think of that? She left out a disgusted sigh.
You shouldnt think like that.
Why not? Maybe I want to die. Maybe thats what Im waiting for. Maybe Im tired of waiting for love and just want it to end right now.
Maybe you should just go home and rest.
I dont need to rest. Brian looked at Kristin.
Im going to go get her some medicine.
Alright, Kristin said.
I dont need any, Jenai said and Brian walked out. He never listens.
Im going to go call Kevin, Kristin said.
Ok. Kristin walked out and Jenai sat there by herself thinking. It didnt last long, as she heard the curtain move and she looked to see Nickolas.
Hows the knee? Nickolas asked.
Its fine right now, Jenai said. Cause Dr. Littrell gave me some painkillers.
Thats good. He walked over to her holding his side.
Are you all right?
Yeah. It basically scraped me, but it went in and out my side, ya know.
Yeah.
I just got a few stitches and some meds. She nodded.
I didnt know you were over there. He grinned. So you heard everything I said? He nodded. Great.
I aint going to say anything, because its your business.
Right.
But your health is important. She didnt say anything and sighed. Its your decision though. She looked at him.
Thank you for earlier at the apartment.
For what?
You know what?
Remind me please. She just looked at him. You have a problem with people helping you out.
No I dont.
Yes you do. I saved your life and you cant even admit it.
Whatever.
Yeah; whatever.
Alright, JJ, heres a prescription for some Vitacin, Brian said and Jenai looked. Im also giving you enough for two days and you better get the prescription filled.
Yeah, Jenai said. How many do I take a day?
Two; one when ya wake up in the morning and one before you go to bed.
Alrighty. May I go?
Yes.
Thank you.
Just be careful. Jenai nodded.
I always am. She and Nickolas walked out and they walked to the waiting room where Kristin was using the phone.
Well Im going to go, Nickolas said.
Um, alright, Jenai said looking at him.
Ill see ya sometime.
I guessyeah.
Ok. He grinned and started walking away. Oh, um, one more thing. Jenai looked at him. I dont have a girlfriend. He smiled and walked away. She smiled herself and watched him walk out.
Wheres Nick going? Kristin asked.
Huh? Jenai said. Hes leaving.
Well, Kevin wants him to come with us.
Oh.
Cmon.
You go stop him and Ill catch up.
Alright. Kristin walked ahead and Jenai slowly followed behind.

It was nice of you to have me for dinner, Sarge, Nickolas said, as they sat on the back porch at Kevins.
Well it was Kris idea, Kevin said.
Thank you, Mrs. Richardson, Nickolas said.
Please call me Kristin, Kristin said. And youre welcome. Nickolas grinned. Youve been a lot of help lately and we wanted to show our appreciation. Right, Jenai? Jenai didnt say anything and continued looking at the stage.
JJ? Kevin said and she looked.
What? Jenai asked.
Never mind, Kevin and Jenai sighed. Are you all right?
Yeah, Jenai said looking at Cujo. Perfectly fine. She sniffled and they stayed silent a few minutes. What if I can never dance again? I have no idea what Im going to do.
You will dance again, Kevin said. I guarantee it.
Youll probably need some therapy later, Kristin started, but youll be fine; good as new.
Well ya better be right, Jenai said. Cause dancings my life. She got up.
Where are ya going? Kevin questioned.
For a drive, Jenai replied. Is that all right? I cant dance so I got to do something.
But you have company, Kristin said.
No; you do, Jenai said walking to the door. I didnt invite him. She went inside.
Shes something, Nickolas said.
You have no idea, Kevin and Kristin said.
Was she always like this? Nickolas asked.
Yeah, Kevin said. You wouldnt want her any other way though.
Shes one of a kind, Kristin said.
That she is, Nickolas agreed and Kevin and Kristin smiled.
I hope shes alright, Kristin worried.
Shell be fine, Kevin said.
She only goes for a drive when somethings bothering her. Or she dances.
Well she cant dance right now.
Maybe you should go find her and check on her.
Shes probably going to the bluff. Nobody goes there so shell be perfectly safe.
This guy is probably following her though.
Youre always so paranoid.

I am not.
Whatever.
Nick, will you go keep an eye on JJ?
Uh Nickolas hesitated looking at Kevin.
Go ahead, Kevin said. Its all right.
Ok, Nickolas said getting up.
Shes most likely headed Kristin began.
To the old lovers bluff, Nickolas finished.
Howd ya know? Kevin asked.
She mentioned it the other day, Nickolas replied.
Oh, Kristin said. Well go and check on herplease.
Right, Nickolas said. Thanks again for dinner.
Anytime, Kristin said.
Youre always welcome here, Kevin said.
Uh, thanks, Nickolas said going inside.
She likes him, Kristin said.
And he likes her, Kevin added.
Theyre cute together.
Yeah, but hes a cop and you know how she is.
But all things are possible. When it comes to love I think shell put that stubbornness aside.
Who said anything about love? Kristin smiled. I guess its her time now though.
Yeah. She continued smiling. Just like its time for us to have a family. She kissed him. We do have the house to ourselves right now so why not take advantage of it.
You do have a point.
I always do. She kissed him again.
