�Awe, Cujo.� She bent down and picked up the little dog. �How long have you been in there? Let�s get you something to eat.� She walked to the kitchen and got a couple cans of dog food and put it in a bowl, as Cujo waited patiently. �Alright, Cujo, let�s go find this box Cal was so secretive about.� She picked up Cujo and carried him and the dog food to Callen�s bedroom. She put them both on the bed and Cujo started eating right away. Jenai walked over to the closet and opened the doors. She looked up to the top shelf and saw all the boxes. She sighed. Callen never told her what kind of box; just that it was in the corner on the very top shelf. She looked at Cujo a second then started taking the boxes off the top shelf. She did that the next couple minutes and found that all those boxes were empty. �Cuj, I bet Joe already got it, but then again maybe I missed a box.� She pulled over the stool and stood on that. She looked in the corners of the shelf, but no box; just a loose board. She stood there a moment then reached back to move the board. It came off with ease and she saw a blue box. �I think I found it, Cujo.� She moved two more boards and got the box.
She grinned and heard, �JJ, what are you doing here?� Jenai lost her balance and fell from the stool.
�Damn it,� Jenai said after she fell backwards and looked to see Dannika. �Are ya trying to kill me?�
�Sorry,� Dannika apologized helping her friend up. �Are you alright?�
�I will be.� She sat on the bed.
�What are you doing here?�
�Looking for this.�
�What is it?�
�I don�t know yet.� Jenai opened the box, as Dannika sat on the bed. �Callie made me promise to get this box if anything happened to her.� Dannika looked at her. �She said it holds info on Detective Fatone.�
�What kind of info?�
�She never said, just that he knows she had it and will do anything to get it.�
�Even kill her?� Jenai looked at her a second then back at the box. �Was Callen in trouble?�
�I don�t know, Dani. The stuff in this box will let us know though.� She started looking at the stuff, as Dannika laid down and petted Cujo. �It says here that Joe is wanted for eight unsolved murders in Idaho in 1995, but he wasn�t going by Joseph Fatone. He was going by alias Reverend Frank Joseph.�
�Are you sure it�s him?� Jenai held up the picture. �Oh�oh.�
�He was trying to be a saint back then.�
�Then this is what probably killed her.�
�Probably.� There was a shatter then something grazed Jenai�s arm. Both girls looked up and at the broken window, as there were more shots. �Get down!� Both girls dropped to the floor, as the shots continued. �Get out of here, Dani!� Jenai got up and got Cujo off the bed. �Take Cujo and go!�
�What about the box?�
�You�re not getting caught with it so go. I�ll be right behind you.� She pushed Dannika out and ran back over to the bed. She put the stuff back in the box and ran from the bedroom. She got to the parlor, as someone jumped through the window. �Ahh!� She ran to the door and went to open it, but found it was stuck. �Open damn it! Now is not the time to get stuck!� She tugged at the old door, as she was grabbed from behind and threw against the wall. She fell to the floor, as the person picked up the box. She looked at them and reached for the lamp on the stand. The person went to stand up and Jenai threw the lamp at them. They fell to the floor and Jenai got up and ran over to the box. She went to pickup the box, as her legs were kicked from under her. She fell backwards, but it didn�t take her long to get back up, as the person went towards the window. Jenai attacked them from behind and they both went over the couch.
�Bitch!� came an angered male�s voice.
�It�s my box!� Jenai yelled crawling towards the box. The guy grabbed her legs and pulled her towards him. �Uh!� He turned her around and punched her in the face and then straddled her. �Get off!�
�I�m going to teach bad little girls a lesson when they touch my stuff.� He hit her in the face again and started undoing her pants.
�I don�t think so!� She brought her knee up and got him in the groin. He left out a grunt, as one hand went to his groin and the other went to Jenai�s neck. She left out a strangled gag and tried to move his hand. She saw a glare in the corner of her eye and looked. She saw Callen�s letter opener and reached for it. She stretched her arm as far as she could and started sliding it to her. When it was close enough, she picked it up and drove it through her stranglers hand; getting her neck in the process. His grip loosened, as he yelled in pain and she pushed him away. She rolled to her side and went towards the box, as the door was kicked opened. She looked and saw Kevin and Nickolas.
�Don�t move!� Kevin yelled demandingly, as the guy got the letter opener out of his hand. He looked and got his gun and started shooting.
�Ah!� Jenai yelled, as she stayed on the floor while guns were being fired. She saw Nickolas go backwards and heard a crashing. �Nick!� She crawled over to him, as Kevin ran over to the window. �Nick?� She reached him, but he didn�t answer. �Nick?� She ripped his shirt open and looked at him. She left out a relieved sigh at the sight of the bulletproof vest, as Kevin walked over. She looked at Nickolas� face, as he opened his eyes.
�I need extra units at Sunset Apartments,� Kevin said into the walkie-talkie. �And send an ambulance.�
�I�m glad ya care,� Nickolas said to Jenai smiling. She grinned, as he took her hand. She looked at their hands and he sat up.
�It was just shock from the force of the bullet,� Kevin said. �It happens.�
�Nothing to worry about,� Nickolas said.
�I�m glad ya wore the vest,� Kevin said.
�I�m glad ya made me,� Nickolas said reaching in his pocket. He pulled out a handkerchief and put it on Jenai�s neck.
�Ow!� Jenai said.
�This is part of a crime scene,� Kevin pointed out. �What are you doing here?�
�Thanks for asking how I am,� Jenai said sarcastically. �I was just shot at, picked up and thrown into a wall, knocked on my ass, punched in the face not once but twice, almost raped, and I just put a letter opener through my neck. And you can�t even ask if I�m all right. I�m perfectly fine thank you very much.� She got up and walked over to the box.
�Are you alright?� Nickolas asked.
�Yeah,� Jenai said picking up the stuff and putting it back in the box.
�Why are you here?� Kevin questioned again.
�Looking for this box,� Jenai answered disgustedly.
�What is it?� Nickolas asked.
�Something you might be interested in,� Jenai said. �And I hope it helps with the case.� She handed the box to Kevin and they looked at each other.

�Dani!� Jenai called for her, as she sat in the back of the ambulance. One EMT was bandaging her arm, as another was stitching up her neck.
�Hold still, Jenai,� the lady EMT said, as Dannika joined them.
�Sorry Hailie,� Jenai said.
�Are you alright?� Dannika asked.
�She�ll be fine,� Hailie said. �She�ll just have a reminder.�
�Unfortunately,� Jenai said.
�All done,� the guy said.
�Thanks,� Jenai said reaching over to pet Cujo.
�Where�s the box?� Dannika asked.
�In police custody,� Nickolas said and they looked.
�Dani, this is Detective Carter,� Jenai stated smiling at him.
�We already met,� Dannika said smiling also. �How are ya doing, Nick?�
�Oh,� Jenai said above a whisper noticing the look between them.
�I�m alright,� Nickolas said. �Minus being shot at.�
�I�m sorry,� Dannika said.
�Part of the job.�
�It�s a tough job.�
�Very tough, but I love it.�
�That�s good.� They continued talking, as Jenai looked at them. Not one word said to her since he joined them. No wonder she hated cops. They see a pretty girl and they want to get laid right away.
�Finished,� Hailie said.
�Thanks, Hailie,� Jenai said.
�You got to get a doctor to look at it though.�
�Alright; I�ll have Brian look at it when he stops by tonight.�
�Ok, you can go.�
�Thanks.� She got out of the ambulance and took Cujo from Dannika. She walked away and found Kevin talking to the apartment owner. �Hey, Kev.�
�That�s all for now,� Kevin said. �If ya think of anything else let us know.� He handed a card to the guy and he walked away. �You ok?�
�Yeah, Hailie gave me something for the pain.�
�Good.�
�I�m going to head home.�
�Alright; if ya wait I�ll get Nick to drive ya.�
�No that�s ok. I got everything under control. I�ll see ya tonight.�
�Ok.� He kissed her cheek and she walked away.
�I�m a big girl. I almost died but I took care of it.� She walked around a police car and ran into someone. She looked to see Justin.
�Sorry,� Justin said.
�Yeah,� Jenai said continuing to walk. She got about ten feet then stopped and looked at Justin. �Justin?� He looked.
�Yeah?�
�Um�can you take me home?�
�Sure.� He walked over to her.
�Thanks.�
�The little guy coming too?�
�He needs a home. Don�t ya, Cujo?� He barked.
�And you�ll give him a good one.�
�I hope so.�
�Come on.� He opened the car door and Jenai looked over at Nickolas. He was still talking to Dannika and didn�t seem to notice she was gone. She sighed and got in the car. Justin got in himself, as Nickolas looked over. He watched them drive off and looked over at Kevin.
