How long are we going to be staying here? Jenai questioned Kevin, as they stood in the elevator going up to the Presidential Suite.
Until we know youre not in danger anymore, Kevin answered.
You couldve easily gotten us separate rooms, Jenai said.
There are separate bedrooms so it wont be that bad, Detective Cronin said.
Well I really dont want to share a hotel room with Detective Timberlake for God only knows how long, Jenai said.
I told ya I was going to be there, Nickolas said and Jenai looked at him.
Im telling ya right now, Jenai began, its going to be hell.
Then stay away from him, Kevin said.
Tell him that, Jenai said. Im not the one trying to still get him.
But I know you still want me, Justin said.
Get over yourself, Detective, because I dont want you. I havent wanted you for the past eight months or so.
Until you look in my eyes and say it I wont believe it.
Believe what you want, Detective, because its the truth.
Im sure it is.
Are ya sure we all got to share a room, Kevy? Cant me and Detective Carter share a room and Dani and Detective Timberlake?
Do you really want to be cooped up in a room by yourself with a cop and not have any friends? Kevin questioned.
Must you always make sense? He smiled and the elevator stopped. At least I wont be around Justin. They all got off and walked down the hall.
Are we allowed any visitors? Dannika asked.
In a couple days, Kevin said opening a door. After you. The girls walked in.
Nice, Dannika said and Jenai went to check out the rest of the room. I can live like this for awhile.
Kevin! Jenai yelled walking from the one room. What happened to the Pres Suite? This is the Honey Suite. She looked at him.
How do you know? Nickolas questioned.
The bathtub is in the shape of a heart, Jenai replied. And there is only one bedroom. They looked at each other.
With two beds, Kevin pointed out. Im working on getting a third.
But
Some big guy is in town and requested the Presidential Suite. Hes the Marriotts best patron.
This sucks. She walked from the room and Justin watched her.
Shell get over it, Kevin said and Dannika went into the bedroom. Rich and I are going to work on the case together at the station and you two will be working on it together here. I want a daily report on what goes on and I want a list of whomever visits. I dont care if its room service or whatever; I want to know.
Alright, Justin said.
Nick, you still have the box right? Kevin wanted to know.
Yeah, Nickolas said. Do ya want it?
No, you keep working on it, Kevin started, and let me know if you find anything interesting.
Ok, Nickolas said.
Thats top priority after myafter Jenai, Kevin stated and Nickolas nodded. If she gives you any problems let me know and Ill talk to her.
Ok, Justin said. Anything else?
Not at the moment, Kevin replied. Ill call if anything comes to mind. Remember, Justin, Dani is your responsibility, and Nick, JJ is yours.
Got it, Nickolas said.
Since it doesnt seem like Jenai is going to talk to me, Kevin began, were going to go back to the station. Ill have a guard put outside. They nodded. Ya know where to reach me. He and Richard walked out.
This is going to be fun, Justin said and Nickolas looked at him. You dont know JJ like I do.
Right, Nickolas said. Im going to go find her. He walked out.
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Hey, Nickolas said standing beside Jenai on the rooftop, as she looked down to the traffic.
How did you find me? Jenai asked.
It wasnt hard. I just asked a few people if they saw a young gorgeous pissed off brunette.
Just go back down.
I cant.
Why not?
Because youre my responsibility and if youre thinking about jumping I aint letting you.
God, I aint thinking that. She walked away.
Thank God. He looked at her, as she sat on the helicopter landing spot. He walked over and sat next to her. Mind sharing? She shrugged. Youll feel better.
I cant stay in that room.
Why not?
Because of Justin.
Im here. She shook her head.
Its more than just sharing a hotel room with him.
Im lost.
Justin brought me here once and we stayed in that room.
Oh.
Im trying to get over him, but everywhere I go anymore theres a memory of us together. I hate it. She sighed.
Just dont let it creep into your mind.
If it were that simple.
You can make it happen and Ill help ya. I got to be stuck with him also and personally I dont care for the guy. She grinned. We can help each other. She said nothing. What do ya say? Ill rescue you and you rescue me.
I guess.
Good. She looked at him. It aint going to be that bad.
I hope not. They continued looking at each other. Youre a great guy for being a cop.
Thanks. She smiled and they just continued looking at each other a little longer. So is that bathtub really heart-shaped?
Unfortunately.
Ugh!
The shower aint any better.
Really?
Its a rose.
Great.
I guess well survive. He nodded. I dont know what to think of this whole thing.
Me either.
These people are nuts.
Yeah. She sighed. Well get them so dont worry.
I aint worried. She gave an uneasy chuckle and got up. Really I aint worried.
I might believe that.
What do you want me to say, Nick? No one was after me before.
Its all right to admit youre scared. She shook her head. Everybody gets scared.
Everybody but me. Im always the strong one and never show my feelings.
You shouldnt hide them.
I have no reason to share them.
Sure you do.
When I think I do. She went to walk away and Nickolas stopped her. What?
I think youre the most difficult woman I ever met. She shrugged and Nickolas put his arms around her. But I like it. He kissed her, but she pushed him away. Whats wrong?
Dont forget youre a cop and lets keep this time here together professional. She walked away.
Umok, but I dont quite understand.
Its complicated alright.
If you say so.
The station is really picky about one of their guys/girls getting involved with a witness or anything ya know. I know a couple people that happened to and they almost lost their job. Nickolas looked at her. If the wrong person finds out your job will be on the line.
Alright.
I dont want you to lose your job because of me. He didnt say anything. And you shouldnt let someone distract you from doing your best and all at your job.
You have a point there. She nodded.
Maybe we should get back. She walked away from him and to the door. Nickolas walked over and followed her inside.
