Nickolas sat in the bedroom by himself looking over the stuff that was in the box yet again. Justin was sitting with the girls in the outer room doing his own work, as the girls watched a movie. Nickolas heard Jenai�s laughter and looked up. He shook his head and sighed.
�Damn it, she�s right,� he said out loud. �She�s distracting me and I shouldn�t let that happen. This is police business and nothing more.� He took a deep breath and tried to go back to his work. He sat there a couple minutes more and those minutes were spent thinking of Jenai. �Damn it.� He left out a disgusted sigh.
�Nothing yet?� He looked and saw Jenai.
�Uh�hey.� She grinned. �I thought you were watching the movie?�
�I saw it that many times, I could recite it backwards.� He smiled. �Plus I thought you could use this.� She held up a wine glass.
�No thanks; I�m on duty.�
�It doesn�t hurt to have one.� She walked over and sat beside him. �When I�m frustrated with something I drink a glass and it helps me work better.� He raised an eyebrow. �It�s because I�m relaxed and not stressed over it anymore.�
�But I�m on duty.�
�One drink�please?� She handed him a glass. �If ya have one drink with me I�ll give ya something ya might be interested in.�
�And what�s that?� She grinned and got up. He watched her walk over to the door and close it. �What are you doing?� She walked over to the suitcases and picked up her bag. She took something out of it and walked back over to the bed. She sat right beside Nickolas and held out the paper. �What�s this?�
�Just something I found.� He took it and unfolded it. He read over it some and looked at her.
�Where�d you get this?�
�You�ll get mad at me.�
�Why would I?�
�Because you will.� She grinned.
�What did you do?�
�Nothing.�
�JJ, these papers explain why Sergeant Stevens is involved with Detective Fatone.�
�I know.�
�So where�d ya get this?�
�Some place.� They looked at each other.
�Well I want to know.�
�You�ll just yell at me like I�m some irresponsible teenager. I�m not though, because I�m 24 and very careful.�
�Just tell me where ya got them.�
�Someplace you didn�t bother looking.�
�And where�s that?� She started biting her nail and looked away from him. �JJ, I got to know and you know it.�
�But you�ll tell Kevin and he�ll bitch at me; I don�t need that.�
�Tell me.� She sighed and got up. �Where�d ya get this?�
�Detective Fatone�s house.�
�Excuse me?� He looked at her and got up.
�Joseph Fatone�s house.�
�And when did this happen?�
�The other night when you guys were sleeping.�
�And you decided to sneak out?�
�Yeah.�
�Why?�
�Does it matter why?�
�Yes it does, because if anything happened to you it would�ve been on me.�
�Nothing happened though.�
�Luckily. What if it did though?�
�I�d handle it.�
�I can�t believe you would do this. How did you do it?�
�Cal had an extra key to Joey�s house and I used it.�
�You just put yourself at greater risk.� He walked out and she followed.
�How did I do that, Detective?� He looked at her.
�You could�ve been followed and we�re trying to keep you from these guys so you don�t end up dead.�
�What�s going on?� Justin asked.
�Your ex here snuck out the other night,� Nickolas replied.
�What?� Dannika and Justin said and Justin added, �You could�ve been followed.�
�I wasn�t alright,� Jenai rebutted and Nickolas opened the door.
�Hey,� Nickolas said to the guard. �Get some extra security and search the area for anything suspicious.� The guard nodded and walked away.
�I�ll call Kevin,� Justin said.
�I don�t know why you�re making such a big deal out of this,� Jenai said.
�It�s our lives,� Dannika stated. �You may not care about yours, but I care about mine.� Jenai looked at her. �Ever since your sister died you act like no one knows what you�re going through.� Jenai slapped her across the face.
�How dare you talk about my sister,� Jenai snapped. �You weren�t there. You didn�t see your sister get raped, beaten, and murdered like I seen my sister get done to her. You didn�t even see your sister�s lifeless body until the funeral so don�t even stand there and tell me you know exactly how I feel, because you don�t.� They just looked at her. �None of you know what I go through everyday trying to deal with her death. I lay awake every night hoping God will take me in my sleep and it�s the same thing every morning. I can�t deal with it and I just want to die.�
�I�m so sorry, JJ,� Dannika said.
�You guys just care about yourselves,� Jenai said. �You don�t even bother to ask how I�m doing. You just assume that since I look good on the outside everything is just peachy, but it�s not. I may look good outside, but inside I�m breaking into pieces everyday. Nobody knows it though and I�m at the point where I don�t care anymore.� She went into the bathroom and slammed the door shut.

�Was this in the box?� Kevin asked looking at the papers Jenai gave Nickolas.
�No, sir,� Nickolas replied.
�Then where�d ya get them?�
�JJ.�
�Jenai?�
�Yes, sir.�
�Where�d she get them?�
�Um�well��
�Carter, I want to know.�
�Detective Fatone�s house.�
�What?�
�She snuck out the other night when we were sleeping.�
�How�d she get pass the guard?�
�He said he got a call.�
�Damn it. Where is she?�
�She locked herself in the bathroom,� Justin said.
�And I really have to pee,� Dannika stated, as Kevin walked over to the bathroom.
�JJ?� Kevin said knocking on the door, but no answer. �JJ, open up so we can talk.� Still nothing. �Jenai?�
�She�s been ignoring all of us,� Dannika said.
�Jenai, open up now,� Kevin demanded.
�I hear water,� Richard said.
�It�s the rain,� Kevin said.
�There�s no windows open so how can ya hear it that good?� Nickolas said. �Unless��
�Unless what?� Kevin asked.
�Unless JJ sneaked out,� Nickolas replied and Kevin kicked the bathroom door open to find it empty with just Jenai�s knee brace.
�Damn it,� Kevin said and he looked at Nickolas. �Go find her now.�
�Yes, sir,� Nickolas said running out.
�I can�t believe this,� Kevin said. �What happened?�
�From what Nick told us,� Justin began, �JJ gave him that info and then told him where she got it. He got angry with her and so did Dani and I. JJ snapped at us then locked herself in the bathroom.�
�Alright,� Kevin said. �Um�you guys stay here and if she comes back let me know right away.�
�Ok,� Dannika said.
�Rich, I want you to go check Club Z,� Kevin ordered. �And any other club. I�ll stop by my place and stop by Jakob�s.�
�Alright,� Richard said walking out.
�Justin,� Kevin said.
�Yeah,� Justin said, as Kevin pulled him aside.
�What was JJ saying before she went into the bathroom?�
�Crazy talk.�
�Like what?�
�Um, she mentioned about what happened to Brianna and how everyday she hopes she�ll die.� Kevin looked at him.
�Anything else?�
�She said we don�t care about her and how inside she�s breaking into pieces everyday, because she can�t deal with her sister�s death.�
�She needs Marty.� Justin nodded. �Um�here.� He got a pen and wrote on Justin�s hand. �That�s Marty�s cell; see if you can get a hold of him.�
�Alright.�
�He�s in Iceland on a job for a few days, but he should soon be done. If ya can�t get a hold of him on his cell he works for the National Geographic. Tell them it�s important and needs his attention right away.�
�Got it.�
�And don�t let Dani think the worse is going to happen to JJ.�
�I won�t.� Kevin nodded and walked out.
