It was finally New Year�s Eve and everyone, including Sunshine, was in New York. They were all backstage at the MTV New Year�s special and watching Ricky Martin perform and talking to Carson Daly. The Boys were getting ready to perform and the girls were walking around watching all the stars and introducing themselves.
�Hey, did any of you see Justin around,� JC Chasez from *NSync asked. �We need to do a quick warm up.�
�I saw him with Miss Britney, like, two minutes ago,� Sunshine said. �They were by the stage watching Ricky.� JC looked at her and she extended her hand. �Sunshine Robinson; friend of the BSB.�
�JC Chasez,� JC said, as they shook. �Nice to meet ya.�
�Likewise,� Sunshine said.
�Hello everyone,� Britney Spears said, as her and Justin Timberlake approached arm in arm and everyone said hi. �I�m Britney.�
�Sunshine Robinson,� Sunshine said, as they shook hands. �And my friends.�
�Danielle Horowitz,� Danielle said. �My cousins Josephine and Destiny.�
�And I�m Venus Davis,� Venus said, as they all shook hands.
�Justin Timberlake,� Justin said.
�We know,� Danielle said and they all smiled.
�We need you, J,� JC said.
�I�ll catch up with ya�s later,� Justin said giving Britney a kiss and he walked away with JC.
�Backstreet, you�re on in five,� some guy yelled. �Carson you�re on in two.�
�If you�ll excuse us,� Kevin said, as he and the Boys and Carson walked away. Nickolas looked at Sunshine and she smiled, as he walked away. The girls just stood there and chatted with Britney.
�So you�re friends with the Backstreet Boys,� Britney said.
�Yeah,� Sunshine said. �But Destiny and Brian are dating as is Josephine and Alex.�
�Cool,� Britney said.
�The rest of us are just�here,� Sunshine said.
�So how did ya�ll meet?� Britney asked.
�At a gas station in Colorado,� Danielle replied. �We were on a road trip and Sunn made a wrong turn.�
�It wasn�t that wrong,� Sunshine said. �Look where we are now. Backstage at MTV with loads of stars.�
�That�s the plus side,� Venus said. �I�m happy with the wrong turn, because I just met Carson Daly and now I can die happy.� They all laughed.
�Sunshine�s got a thing for Nick and he has a thing for her,� Josephine stated and Sunshine glared at her friend. �I think it�s so cute, because they try to deny it. I even think they have something going on.�
�Really I don�t think it�s anyone�s business,� Sunshine replied. �Who cares if we have something going on? Are you writing a book that you need to know everyone�s business?�
�Well, no,� Josephine said.
�Ok, then,� Sunshine said. �I don�t ask about you and Alex so don�t ask about me and Nick.�
�I guess not,� Josephine said and Sunshine just looked at her.

Sunshine and Nickolas were outside with the crowd dancing to 98 Degrees� �I Do (Cherish You)� and all their friends were watching them. They really didn�t care who was watching them. All they cared about was being in each other�s arms and enjoying the moment.
Nickolas smiled at her and started singing, �I do cherish you�for the rest of my life�you don�t have to think twice�I will love you still�from the depths of my soul�its beyond my control�I�ve waited so long�to say this to you�if you�re asking do I love you this much�yes I do�� Sunshine looked at him and smiled.
�Whoever would�ve thought that you and I would be dancing to a love song together,� Sunshine said. �Not me.�
�Me either.� Each knew they were lying though.
�Why�d you ask me to dance anyway?�
�Well I gave you a reason to come here so why not enjoy it.� He smiled and she just looked at him. �Well there wasn�t anyone else I wanted to dance with.�
�No floozy caught your eye yet?�
�No.� He smiled again. �Well maybe just one. She�s about 5�4�, long brown hair; my personal favorite by the way, big beautiful brown eyes to match, the sweetest smile I�ve ever seen, lips that were made for kissing, a killer bod better than Britney Spears or Christina Aguilera or Jennifer Lopez�there are so many qualities I love about her. She�s just so gorgeous.�
�What�s her name?�
�Sunnie Robinson.�
�Right.� He continued smiling. �I ain�t no floozy.�
�Will you be mine?�
�And I won�t be anyone�s floozy.�
�Please?�
�No.�
�Fine. Why not?�
�Because I ain�t no floozy, Carter.�
�Fine.� She shook her head and smiled.
�So what do you and Dani talk about all the time?�
�Mostly I talk about you.�
�Really?� She looked up at him.
�Yeah, but I�m beginning to wonder if you do like me the way I like you.�
�You know I do.�
�But you never said it yourself. You just said that Kevin knew you liked me.� Sunshine just looked at Nickolas and smiled, as the song ended.
She went to say something, but interrupted by Howard, �Hey, Sunn.�
�Hey, Howie,� Sunshine said trying not to sound disappointed that her and Nickolas were interrupted.
�Do you mind if I cut in, Nick?� Howard asked.
�Um�� Nickolas said looking at Sunshine. �Of course not.� Sunshine looked at him and he shrugged. �We�ll talk later.� He leaned down and whispered in her ear, as Howard watched.
�Definitely,� Sunshine replied smiling and she watched Nickolas walk away. After Nickolas was out of view, Sunshine looked at Howard. �I�m surprised you didn�t ask Josie to dance with ya.�
�Well, she seems to be enjoying herself with Alex,� Howard replied, as they both looked and saw Josephine and Alexander dancing really close.
�Of all the girls here why did you ask me to dance?� Sunshine questioned becoming confused again with Howard�s behavior.
�I thought you could use a break from Nicky.�
Sunshine just looked at him and knew that wasn�t the real reason he asked her to dance. They started dancing when LFO took the stage. Howard began to dance really close, closer than he should of, and Sunshine began to wonder if Howard had feelings for her. She had to admit that it was even making her uncomfortable.
For the next ten minutes or so Sunshine and Howard continued dancing. Howard was even closer and Sunshine grew more uncomfortable. Howard knew how she felt about Nickolas, but it seemed like he didn�t really care anymore. She would have rather danced with Bradley Fischetti right at this moment. She continued dancing with Howard a minute more and then finally stopped and pushed him away.
�If you�ll excuse me I need to use the ladies room,� Sunshine said walking away. She found Venus and said, �Please go dance with your boyfriend.� She pointed to where Howard was and then walked away from her.
Venus looked at her confused and then walked over to Howard and pulled him to the side. �What the hell are you doing with Sunn? Are you trying to make Josie jealous?�
�No,� Howard replied. �That�s just it; Josephine can be with Alex, because I found someone else�Sunshine.�
�You have to be kidding me,� Venus said, as Howard just shook his head. �You know how she feels about Nick and how Nick feels about her.�
�Hey, guys,� Nickolas said joining them.
�Nick, hey,� Venus said.
�Do you know where Sunnie�s at?� Nickolas asked.
�She�s in the ladies room,� Howard replied.
�Thanks,� Nickolas said turning around and running into Sunshine. �Hey.�
�Didn�t you think I�d remember?� Sunshine questioned then whispering in his ear, �It�s five minutes before midnight and didn�t we agree to be together.�
�I believe so,� Nickolas said, said as they walked away.
�That there goes to prove, Howie, she�s not into you,� Venus stated, as the others found them. �Just leave her alone so she can be with Nick like she wants.�
Howard just looked at her and said, �Doesn�t it bother you, Dani, that your boyfriend�s dancing with someone else?� Venus groaned and shook her head.
�He�s not my boyfriend,� Danielle reminded him. �We�re just friends like you and V.�
�Howie wants Sunshine,� Venus blurted out. �So keep him away from her.� They all looked at Howard and shook their heads and looked at Sunshine and Nickolas, as he dipped her.
�I never seen Nickolas so happy,� Kevin said.
�I never seen Sunshine so happy,� Danielle said.
�I guess they are a match made in heaven,� Kevin stated. �Who was I to interfere?� Danielle just shrugged and they looked back at Sunshine and Nickolas, as fans interrupted their dancing.
They watched them for a few moments then Danielle said, �They�re so going to get married one day.�
�How do ya know?�
�I just do. Look at them. When they�re around each other it�s like no one else is in the room. You should know that.�
�I guess ya have a point.�
�I do.� Kevin nodded. �When we were in�when we were younger and fans Sunnie Jo would always say that she was going to marry Nick. I always thought she was a crack whore when she said it, but now that I see them together and how they treat each other and shit I actually believe it.�
�We�ll just have to wait and see.�
�I�m telling you right now, Kevin, they�re going to get married. You can mark this day on your calendar when Danielle Morgan Horowitz told you that Sunshine Josephine Robinson and Nickolas Gene Carter were going to get married one day. When that day happens I�ll want an apology.�
�Alright. When it happens you�ll get an apology.�
�You bet your ass I will.� She smiled.
They stood there a few more minutes talking when everyone started yelling, �10�9�8�7�6�5 �4�3�2�1�Happy New Year!�
�Happy New Year, Danielle,� Kevin said.
�Happy New Year, Kevin,� Danielle said and then kissing him. He kissed her in return a moment and she pulled away. He just looked at her surprised and she smiled. �There was no way I was starting this year off on the wrong foot.� Kevin smiled, as the others walked over.
�Happy New Year!� Alexander yelled and they all shook their heads at him and smiled.
