What does IG mean?
Well, the Oxford English Dictionary has a lot to say on the
matter, so we'll quote them.
Ig /'ig/ adj. abbr. *adj.
incredibly good (that was ig). 2 to travel very
far, inter-galactic (lets go ig). *abbr. invent-a-game, a
ficticious game review in the popular zine 'IG'. [Middle English
iggy, from Sweedish]

Any clearer now? Well, how about an extract from from
Encyclopaedia Britannical.
IG: In the mid 1990s, a group of teenagers
under the oppressive regieme of St. Mary Redcliffe & Temple
Secondary School formed a club or gang known as RIMS (acronym of
'Reasonably Intelligent Mad Scientists') who spent all their time
together. The original members of this group are unknown, but Graham Tratt, Tim Lings and David Hemmings are believed to be part
of them. Magazines were then
written over the following years under the name of "Super Rims",
as well as some home movies made by TCP (Trashing Chainsaw
Productions). To shake off their "keener" exterior, the name RIMS
came to mean "Radically Insane Mad Scientists".
But that wasn't enough; something more was
needed. A whole new magazine was concieved, under the name of IG.
The meaning of those two letters is now lost in the mists of
time, but some etymologist are convinced that it stems from the
"Invent-a-game" pages that plagued the Super Rims magazines. But
that is not important, for the new name meant a whole new
direction for the RIMS crew (who now contained Joe Tiltman, amongst others). It was a
vehicle for their deranged minds, as can be seen in the first
(and last) issue of IG and
the TV Channel IGTV.
After their GCSEs, half of IG left for St. Brendan's Sixth Form to form a
renegade group called Ig Films
(who have made two highly interesting films since). To
date, University is looming, which might spell the end for all
things IG shaped.

Up-to-date aren't they! I hope that explains it all a little
better. If not, try
emailing us or sending a
postcard and we'll answer your questions. Or something.
