There is application (DA/73/2006) before Lake Macquarie City Council for a telecommunications facility consisting of a
:
One 35 metre high monopole;
One Optus panel mounted on the top of the monopole;
One parabolic antenna strap mounted to the monopole;
Two Telstra strap mounted panels to the monopole;
One pre-fabricated external equipment shelter; and,
Security fencing and a 25 metre long access track from Ocean Park Road to the compound area.
The overall proposed height of the development will be 38.5 metres above the existing natural ground level.
The area required for the compound is 94 square metres. (See Appendix C for plans of the proposal)
The proposal will also require the excavation of lands for services to be made available to the development. road works.
The facility is proposed to augment Optus and Telstras mobile telephone network. The development site is located within the existing Hunter Water Corporation Wastewater Treatment Works at Nine Mile Beach, Belmont South.
The proposal is located in the southwestern corner of the 52 hectares Hunter Water Corporation (HWC) site. The land is utilised by HWC as a wastewater treatment works and ocean outfall. The development site is located on the flattened sand dunes of Nine Mile Beach in proximity to the wastewater treatment works access road.
The development site is also located within the proposed Lake Macquarie Coastal Wetlands Park. The Coastal Wetlands Park proposal comprises 10 separate areas of land totalling approximately 1,730 hectares over a 15 kilometre stretch of coastline, between Dudley and Swansea. These parcels are currently owned and managed by Council and other New South Wales government statutory bodies and corporations.
