When There's A Will

I've been told throughout my days,
When there's a will there's a way.
What will happen when I grow old?
Such terrible stories I've been told.

A great burden, I never want to be
To my family, that cares for me.
Please don't let them take me away,
To those homes to live out my days.
So when I stumble and start to fall,
I hope you're there if and when I call.

Some elderly people even go insane,
Just because they might need a cane.
I have visited some of these places,
Seen the tortured looks on their faces,
And heard screams on the other side of the door.
I hope this isn't what I have in store.

The plead and grasp onto your hands,
Just hoping someone will understand.
So now, down on my knees I go to pray,
To ask the Lord if he will let me stay.
With my loving family forever more,
Until I go through those heavenly doors.

A nursing home is just no place to die.
All, without your family at your side.
So when I stumble, and start to fall,
I hope you answer to your mother's call.
Within my own home I want to stay,
Because when there's a will, there's a way.
