TRUTH AND JUSTICE

If some peers should go to jail.
We may get a letter in the mail.
Return address from our state.
Saying, "Be in court on this date".
They tell us a juror we must be,
To determine anothers destiny.
We should answer, if duty calls,
This duty usually given to us all.
So today this promise I give to you,
I will always rely upon the truth.
If into a court room I am called,
To pass judgment upon you all.
I promise I will do my best,
If on my shoulder your case rests.
To try my best to hear both sides.

To determine where truth resides.
I only pray that day won`t come,
Though I must be fair to everyone.
My peers would do the same I pray,
Should I have go to court one day.
I fear in our states we have a flaw,
Within our courts and in our laws.
In evidence they don`t give to me,
That could let an accused go free.
I think a juror should have a right,
To have all evidence in their sight.
Before I condemn someone to jail,
To spend their life within a cell.
I would have questions in my mind,
Is there other evidence of any kind?
Wondering what else I should see,

Before I condemn anothers deeds.
God, if a juror I should be one day,
Show truth and justice to me, I pray.
