Over The Hill
I never once thought that a poet I could be, Till I just started writing what came to me. I don't understand why it didn't happen before, Instead it stayed locked away behind a door. It's amazing what we all have hidden inside, Within our heart and soul and mind. It's been a long time since my days in school, I'd always thought I was just an old fool. And to write a letter I'd always hated to do. Instead, a telephone call I'd make to you. I've used lots of words these last few weeks, That I'd learned how to spell before my teens, Even the meanings I can remember still. So I guess I'm not quite yet over the hill. I thought I was a waste of my teachers time. But there must be something in this head of mine! One day God told me I had more to do, So I started writing these poems to you. So deep in your heart I know you will find, Something special from God to make you shine. And as long as you have life in you still, Remember your not yet over the hill.
