Little White Lie

Little white lies we all have told,
If you say you haven't you're being bold.
When a friend asks you if they're fat,
A little white lie gets you out of that.

Sometimes you feel you must deceive,
When the truth no one believes.
Sometimes you think you have no choice,
When on the phone is an angry voice.

Someone tries to make you buy,
What you don't want, so then you lie.
If your pressured to reveal a source,
You think a lie is the only course.

So much guilt comes with each lie,
Your stomach turns, deep inside.
If there's no guilt when a lie is told,
You must have a heart, so cold.

To tell the truth is always best,
So guilt don't build up in your chest.
To protect from harm a lie we tell,
To keep someone alive and well.

A broken heart I can't bear to see,
So a little white lie slips out of me.
Now I ask the Lord to forgive,
The little white lies that I've lived.
