Lace and Frills

You never cared for lace and frills,
Only adventure with many thrills.
In your baseball cap and jeans,
Just the prettiest sight to be seen.
To be a girl was never enough,
You had to be extremely tough.
All the things that boys can do,
You had to show us you could, too.
In a play pen you would not stay,
You climbed the top to run away.
And you were gone in just a flash,
So very quick we all had to dash.
From a tomboy to a teenage girl,
You hold the key to both worlds.
You never liked dolls or 'sissy' toys,
You wanted things made for boys.
But I think for you it was just a test,
To show the boys you were the best.
If you're rough and tough or prissy in lace,
I will love forever your smiling face.
You're my lean, mean, green machine,
I'll treasure forever my Heather Jean.
