YOU HAVE NOT LIVED

If on a farm you have never lived,
Know the blessings farm life gives.
To watch the baby calves at play,
Then feed the chickens everyday.
And gather the eggs every morn,
See the miracle of  puppies born.
Maybe ride a horse to town,
Start the tractor, plow the ground,
Plant a garden and watch it grow.
Harvest everything you`ve sown,
Feed the pigs and milk the cows.
Fix fences so they don`t get out.
Look across the field of maize,
Watch the herd of cattle graze.
Cut lots of wood to stay warm,
Watch the bees as they swarm.

Steal the honey from their comb,
Watch the horses as they roam.
Then pick up walnuts and pecans,
Take a swim in a old farm pond.
Go fishing with your old cane pole,
Or even wading in a craw dad hole.
Sitting under an old shade tree,
As squirrel and deer are running free.
Rise in the dawn to start baling hay,
To feed stock on cold winter days.
Hear the whippoorwill echo at night,
The roosters crow at mornings light.
Then I must say you have not lived,
The most beautiful life God has given.
