Pink Gingham Dress
I made my baby girl a dress, When she was one month old. Though I tried my very best, How to sew I was never told.
A little sun dress with button straps, Gingham colors of pink and white. I made cute little panties to match, And I took my time to do it right.
With elastic in legs and waist bands, I followed pattern directions so close. While I was holding her in my hands, This is a chore only a mother knows.
The days passed so fast it seemed, One whole month had passed. But I could see it in my dreams, So cute would be this little lass.
By now five months had went by, I knew another one was on the way. I made myself just sit and try, I finished her little dress that day.
I set her in the sink and gave her a bath, I made the cute little curl in her hair. So proud of myself I had to laugh, I slipped it on her right then and there.
My heart was filled with so much pride, So pretty was she in her gingham dress. As I looked down at those little thighs, Her elastic bands had run out of stretch!
A pink gingham dress is still in my mind, This is a memory that will forever linger. For my next baby girl it was done in time, The gingham dress I made with my fingers.
