My Blue Silk Dress

I'm sitting here feeling so very low,
For today to my sons wedding I will go.
I wanted so much a new dress to wear,
And go to the beauty salon to fix my hair.
I've been on the phone with people I know,
To ask them if I could borrow some clothes.
But as of now there's none in my size.
So all I can do now is sit here and cry.
From garage sale clothes to hand-me-downs,
Were the only clothes that I have found.
For when all you get is disability pay.
There's just nothing left for a special day.
I wanted so much for them both to be proud,
When they saw me sitting out there in the crowd.
But please understand if I'm not at my best.
Don't hold it against me for the way I am dressed.
Today I'll be so happy for the both of you,
While your standing in Gods house to say, "I do".

So when you see me sitting with the other guests,
Imagine my glass slippers and my blue silk dress.
And remember always to our Lord to pray,
And ask him to join us on Your Wedding Day.
