WHEN  YOU  ARRIVED
I see a memory today so clear.
I was only but twelve that year.
Our mother was in the family way,
We knew it would be any day.
Waiting nine whole months to see,
"Will it be a brother or sister to me?"
Grandma arrived as time got close,
To tend to us and wash our clothes.
Then came the night we waited for,
That special night that you were born.
Everyone so calm not saying a word,
"Call Doc Bannister" then we heard.
A ground covered in drifting snow,
The boys met him at a county road,
Pulled him to our house on a tin sled!
"What a ride!" Doc Bannister said.

That night your dad walked the floor,
Scared to go in the bedroom door.
Babysitting little ones is all I could do,
While we all waited for you.
Suddenly we heard a baby cry,
Such tears of joy filled us inside.
We heard grandma say, "It is a girl!"
When you arrived in our world.
We took turns through the night,
Holding our baby sister tight,
Now I have something I want to say,
I love you Sis.
Happy Birthday!
