The Hidden Word
Submission Guidelines

Content? Style? Form?
If you think it's poetry, send it. If I think it's poetry and I really
like it, I'll publish it on the site. Any subject matter is fair game, but
I'm not interested in either violence or pornography for its own sake. Be
sure that there's a point you're trying to make and that the piece doesn't leave
me scratching my head wondering what you're writing about. For the purpose of this 'zine,
I'm only interested in Canadian poets at this time.
Format:
E-mail submissions only to The
Hidden Word. Email subject should read "Submission" and the
number of poems (maximum three). Please include your full name and indicate your
current residence (town/city and province) or some indication of why you can be
considered Canadian if it's outside the country - I'm fairly liberal in my
definition of Canadian, sort of like the CRTC in defining Canadian content.
If I'm interested in a poem(s) that you've submitted, I'll e-mail you to find out if you're still interested in having it appear here. If so, then I'll ask you for a brief (50-ish word) Bio and a small photo for the Contributors Page, and whether you'd like your e-mail address included with it (you may find some fans this way, but you may also find an anti-fan or two).
Response time:
Within 4 weeks. Almost guaranteed. At the moment, I'm still not certain of the
volume of submissions I'm going to receive, but a month should be manageable.
Payment:
A publication credit on your resume. Sorry, but since I don't have any
advertisers and don't charge people to read The Hidden Word, I don't have any
money for payment. The credit and the warm glow of seeing your work in pixels will have
to be payment enough.
