no hope

the streets is rough out here
tough out here
and it aint even the ghetto
to preach is dumb out here
because around here
we all think that we know
all that we need to know
thinkin that cash in our hands is the life
and we aint no thugs out here
aint no love round here
for the kinda Gs that take niggas lives
you see, around here
we praise the people with the work and the prices
we got fire yay, chronic tree, triple stack beans and ice, yes...

we just some kids with no hope
and a whole lot of dope
some kids with no education
but a dude that'll sell his prescription
baby's mommas that need relief
and baby's daddies tryna get on they feet
if you supplyin the demand
put ya money in someone's hand
some of the greatest businessmen the world will ever know
are just some kids from charlotte county
yeah... some kids wit no hope...

tha story...

If you're from Port Charlotte, you know the story behind this. Around here, almost everyone is into drugs in one way or another. Drugs are all around - they're a way of life - they're a huge part of the Southwest Florida economy. Come to PC, PG or Ft Myers and you'll see for yourself. EVERYONE does drugs - or sells drugs - or recieves checks from Crime Stoppers by callin in people that are involved with drugs. And some of these people have really been hustlin their whole lives. I wasn't trying to find any resolve in writing this song. I was just exploring my own views on it all. We don't live in a ghetto but we feel everyone that does. In a way, we're repressed here as well. There's no options for kids around here except to sell drugs and get paid or get out and stay broke. But most kids are smoking weed by the age of 11 and selling months after -- in most cases, they've made up their mind by the time they get to the point of making that decision.

tha dedications...

This one is more for the people who think PC is a nice communtiy that just happens to have an abnormal amount of hoodlums. You'll never understand us until you grow up here for yourself. We're bored, there's few employment opportunities for the young and untrained, and the drugs have been plentiful and easily accesable in Pt Charlotte since the 1980s. We're just some kids with no hope and a whole lot of dope. What would you do?
