And some facts
Unknown sailor from a well known ship
In a modern grave within the church lies a unknown sailor from the Mary Rose. Laid to rest here in 1984 after the famous wreck was discovered off Portsmouth in 1982

Relic of a well known Sailor and a well known ship
Within a glass case lies a fragment of the Ensign flown at the battle of Trafalgar on the Victory. It was paraded at Nelsons funeral and was destined to lie in the grave with him. But, at the last moment the Sailors at the graveside ripped the battle torn flags to shreds to keep their own momentos. The fragments of flag became valuable items to sell or pass on as heirlooms. This section was donated to the Church by a Mr Durrel in memory of his son.
