Tara has enjoyed music ever since elementary school, when she started playing the euphonium (which looks like a small tuba). In high school she played in symphonic band, wind ensemble,marching band, and pit orchestras. She was the band president in her senior year. She also played trombone in the Binghamton Youth Symphony. She decided to study music in college, and attended the Crane School of Music, in Potsdam, NY. There she majored in music education and music performance. Taking advantage of a school opportunity, she studied abroad at the Birmingham Conservatoire in Birmingham, England. At Potsdam, she was a member of Phi Eta Sigma, the Vice-President of the Potsdam International Organization, a member of the Crane Student Association, and sang in the community choir.
Her teaching experience includes working at Interlochen Center for the Arts for two consecutive summers as the brass teaching assistant. For the past three summers, she taught English in northern Italy at a full English immersion summer camp for Italian children. After student teaching, she received a job teaching middle school band and jazz band in central NY. Last summer she moved to Los Angeles to teach middle school band and orchestra in the Long Beach Unified School District. She currently teaches after school lessons at the Cornerstone Music Conservatory and is a student at UCLA,
pursuing a masters of music on euphonium.
