Back in the day a lot of companies were coming out with virtual pets, but none of them specifically claimed to be "Tamagotchis". Now-a-days, just looking on eBay you will find so many fakes actually claiming to be real. Don't let them fool you. Anything that does not specifically say "Bandai" on the package is probably fake!

Here's a list of Tamagotchi websites I visit regularly. There are many more, but these ones stick out in my mind most and are usually the most helpful/informative.
TamaTalk- A tamagotchi forum
Tama Town- This is where you can connect some versions of tamagotchi connection for some fun interaction.
Tamagotchi.com- The official website
Tama-Zone- has all sorts of charts and an informative forum section.
Tamenagerie- A collector who knows their stuff.
Pixel Mood- Lots of helpful info. Way more comprehensive than this website.
LiveJournal Tamagotchi Community This is a very active Tamagotchi community on LiveJournal.com. You can interact in this community so long as you have an LJ account, which is completely free to create! I am active in this community from time to time.
TamaSquare Tamagotchi resource website with directions translated from Japanese to English!
Osu/Mesutchi Resource A website dedicated to information about vintage connection Tamagotchis.
Inksome.com A great blogging website that I use to log my tamagotchi experiences. You can get an account right away by paying, or you can send me a message so that I can send you a free invite and you can get onto the website without paying!
That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. I'll add more to this eventually.
If you would like me to link to your Tamagotchi related website, then feel free to contact me through e-mail or the guestbook at any time. The more links the better!
