Back in the day a lot of companies were coming out with virtual pets, but none of them specifically claimed to be "Tamagotchis". Now-a-days, just looking on eBay you will find so many fakes actually claiming to be real. Don't let them fool you. Anything that does not specifically say "Bandai" on the package is probably fake!

Hi everyone! Long time no update! Its been a few years because of the fact that Geocities.com was shut down by Yahoo a few years ago. As a result the website became inactive and I decided to move all of its content to a different host. The new website can be found at Tamagotchi.tk. From there you can see loads of new content and a ton of new pictures. There is also a new Tamagotchi log and a twitter account, so that you can receive more timely updates about whats going on with the site :D For now I will leave this old website up for nostalgia purposes. Have a great day!
Alright, I have officially found a new free webhost for the Tamagotchi Ocean website :) Right now I have tamagotchi.co.cc redirecting to the new site. Nothing is really set up over there, so don't bother going there just yet. Once everything is in place, I will post a link redirecting everyone to the new place. So for now just don't even bother going there. Say hello to my new webhost, Freebeehosting.com :D And the best part is that there are NO ADS WHATSOEVER. Which means that users in Internet Explorer can now view the page without the website template getting all messed up! Yippee!
Good news everyone! Despite Geocities closing down, I have found a whole slew of different free webhosts to choose from which I will be considering. I also went so far as to purchase the domain name Tamagotchi.co.cc for REALLY cheap :D http://Co.cc not only offers really inexpensive domains, they also offer some FREE ones, too. For now Tamagotchi.co.cc is going to redirect here, and then once the new site is all up and ready, I will switch it over and everything will be there for everyone to check out :D So just be patient everyone and things will be up and running in no time. I'm really excited about this change, and even though I'm sad to see GeoCities go, I still have hope that everything will be alright ^_^
In other AWESOME news, I just received my Tamagotchi Color and my used Little Mermaid Giga Pet in the mail yesterday afternoon, and they are so cool! Once the new site is up and running I will make pages for them. Now I am just waiting on my Odenkun Tamagotchi :)
Sad news, everyone! Yahoo! has decided to shut down GeoCities :'( This means that this website will no longer be around by the end of this year. It makes me really unhappy because I put a lot of time and effort into this place for the past couple of years. Fortunately, I am looking for an alternative to host a new place where everyone can check out my collection. Right now I am considering DreamWidth.org, but I'm also up for suggestions. If anyone knows a good, free webhosting service that doesn't put really ugly ads on your pages and is easy to customize, but doesn't make you use ugly, pre-made templates, please let me know so I can check out my options. I will make an announcement once I've decided where to move everything. Until then, keep checking back for occasional updates.
In other news, I just got a new Keitai in the mail yesterday. It's a really pretty design called "Melon Soda". I'm also waiting on three new virtual pets: The new color tamgotchi, an Odenkun, and a used Little Mermaid Giga Pet. I will make new pages for them once I find another place to host this site.
Just bought the v6 Tamagotchi Music Star last night. Go check out the new page in the lefthand navigation :D Also, I ordered two other virtual pets on eBay. Keep on the look out for new pages. Once they arrive I will be adding them into the menu! Still waiting on the JD fake Yasashii to arrive so I can do a review on it.
So I have been contemplating adding a JD (aka "fake") page to the site. I realize a lot of people hate JD with a vengeance, but I wouldn't blame JD solely for the fact that people are getting ripped off. I blame 50% of the problem on the sellers on eBay who advertise their auction pages as genuine Tamagotchis. The other 50% is JD because of the way they intentionally package their virtual pets to look almost like Tamagotchi packaging, thus fooling the naive who don't have much experience buying Tamagotchis online. Aside from all that, I have seen a few JD virtual pets that look pretty cool. Which is why I am taking it upon myself to buy one or two of them (only the coolest looking ones) and do some reviews on them. I purchased one on eBay yesterday for a whopping $2.30. So even if it ends up sucking really badly, at least I didn't waste TOO much money lol Also, say they do end up being really crummy virtual pets, at least there will be a page out there detailing WHY they suck, instead of just going into forums reading complaints here and there but nothing really coherent as to why "JD sucks" or supposedly sucks.
One of the complaints I have about JD is that they don't do things in a unique way. Other virtual pet companies would make their virtual pets look as different as possible from the Tamagotchis and marketed them differently, so there was usually no confusion. JD seems to keep designing their virtual pets crappily, yet copies how Tamagotchis look for the most part, with VERY minor differences.
I personally think that if JD would simply make up their own unique designs, and package their virtual pets in a unique fashion, they would probably become a more respectable company, and haters would find their product a little more tolerable. Not only that, but people might actually WANT to buy their product because of the fact that it's unique and functioning, rather than shunning the company's products altogether, thus making JD want to trick people less. They really need to rethink their marketing strategy, is what I'm saying.
Anyway, enough rambling. Once my fake Yasashii JD virtual pet arrives, I will do an intense review on it. So far all I know is that is has one extra button, is the size of a regular connection Tamagotchi, and from what I've heard JD Tamagotchis DO in fact connect together and play together like Tamagotchis do. I'm anxious to see if it at all functions like a Yasashii and I'm interested to know what kind of animal/characters it will have :) Obviously they won't be Tamagotchi characters. As you can see, I'm not setting the bar very high on this one, so it can't possibly be too much of a disappointment, right? Okay, this was a big enough update.
Just a note, I did receive my Japanese Gen 1, so I will be updating that page soon enough :D
I just updated the new Keitai page with information and pictures :D Go check it out! The design I got is really pretty and I'm very proud I bought it for a modest $17 :D yay, all the way from Japan!
ZOMG I broke down and bought a Japanese Gen. 1. Don't worry, after the V6 I'll be done for awhile XD Don't want this to become TOO unhealthy lolz. But anyway, it's a really cute peachy orangeish color :D Only costed $19, too. Here's a picture :D
I'm so excited lolz. Now I have to add two more pages to the site. Also, I am thinking of adding in a price section to each page so that people who visit the site will know how much the virtual pets usually run for :)
