This page has been my greatest challenge. I realize the list of midis is short, but midis barely resembling Naive American Music is very rare. But thanks to Old Guy, I now have several to share with you. The graphic below takes awhile to load, please wait.
Instruments like those above were played
individually and during public dances,
and there was music for every occassion.
Every young man had a personal song
whose melody and words, he believed, were
transmitted to him directly by the power
of his guardian spirit-a wolf, a tree, a bird
or a flower.
Warriors had their special songs, young mothers,
old men and young children alike.
The whistle and the flute were the only wind instruments.
