| I still
remember the first Three Investigator book I read. I was 11 at that
time. It was The Mystery of the Vanishing Treasure. Well... I
liked it a lot. At that time, honestly, I was a Hardy Boys fan. I
have read many of these books. But as soon as I read T3I, well, I
kind of hung on to it. T3I books are different. The contrast is
great compared to The Hardy Boys. I don't want to be cynical, but
it seems to me that the adventures of Frank and Joe Hardy are a bit
too much to swallow. Not T3I. The plot in their adventures is
realistic. I guess this is an important factor of the Three
Investigators. Reality.
Next, it's the way the mysteries are
solved. I must say that Jupiter is really sharp. Bob, studios and
painstaking while Pete is the athletic type. A good combination. The
mysteries are woven around suspense, which is another important
factor. Also, the little details,
which play a big role in solving a mystery and the way the plot
suddenly turns it direction and of course, Jupiter's logical
deductions, all add up the greatness of the stories.
Then there is their secret
headquarters. Boyish you can say. But very interesting. And then the
boys try to become 'business like' by issuing their own cards. And
the way the triple question marks always attract attention... I must
say I really am hooked on.
The only 'physical' drawback is that
these books aren't available in Shillong, my hometown. I get many of
the stories from the school library. Well, I guess this has added to
my interest in these books and whenever I go out of Shillong, I
search for these books. Anyway, thanks for reading this short
monologue.
