Charter Banquet Update
We have come up with a possible theme for our Charter Banquet that was inspired by the book The World Is Flat by Thomas Friedman, which contains many strong points that we feel to be important topics of discussion.  We don’t have a catchy title yet for the banquet but here is a link to the overview of the book to get familiar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_World_Is_Flat.  I have sent requests out to multiple contacts to see if they would be willing to speak on some of the topics referred to in this book or if they could recommend someone.

If you are interested in helping with the planning of this event (picking the location, date, speakers, attendees, publicity, etc.) please contact Tracee at  via email [email protected]aceeELewis@eaton.com.

Girl Scout Update

We have planned for a ½ day event with the Girl Scouts titled Wow! That’s Engineering? (unless there are other suggestions) to be held on Saturday October 21st.  Where girls can learn exciting concepts of Engineering first hand from several practicing female Engineers through a series of workshops.  They will get to become "Engineers" for a day and discover engineering solutions to real-world problems.  During each workshop the girls will create something that they can take home and share with their friends and family.    The following are a list of possible activities that we will conduct.  We are still looking for suggestions so, if you know of a good one please let us know.

·     Making Lip gloss

·     Paper Chromatography

·     Electronic Matching Game

·     Find Your Center of Gravity

This will be for the Girl Scout age level of Junior, which is for 4th – 6th graders.  We will offer a patch for this experience, which we are able to design with help from GS.  There will be a min of 12 and max of 24 girls per class and the session will run from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm on that Saturday.   Girl Scouts will also help us with obtaining the venue for this event.

If you are interested in volunteering to teach, assist in a class or in general please contact [email protected] .  We need to know how many volunteers we will have and how many we will need to ask GS to provide.  We would like to have this count no later than August 15th if possible.
