This short hairstyle is a major contrast to the styles of the eighteen hundreds. None of the men at that time

were wearing short hair, and even if you did, you covered it with a large wig. This short hairstyle is what the

considered norm is for today�s modern style.

The longer relaxed hairstyle is a little bit more to maintain. Men who are within careers that allow them time

for primping, such as models, actor, and musicians usually wear this style. Hair of this length tends to be

bothersome to most people, so therefore usually only those who have the time to keep it well maintained can

pull off this style.

Along with the men of the eighteen hundreds, this long style does have some similarities. For in the eighteen

hundreds, there were some men who did indeed grow their hair long and did not wear wigs. This modern style

would be the equivalent to the free flowing styles of the 1800�s.

In women�s styles today, as with men�s are to the most part very natural. The most widely worn style is just

below to hovering above the shoulder, known as the bob or the longer choppy bob. This hairstyle is easily

maintained, for it can be let down and let to flow, or put up into a more elegant style if needed, this style is also

worn by women with both curly and straight hair.

This hairstyle allows freedom and practical features along with looking good. A large contrast with the 1800�s styles that were fashionable for the times, but not as practical as one may have wanted.

Women with shorter hairstyles, which even to some extent, resemble men�s hairstyles. Those who are in the

business field, for it is considered a much more corporate style usually wear this shorter and more sophisticated

hairstyle. Yet on the other side of things the shorter style is considered extremely sexy and fun depending on how

it is styled and worn. See figures 9 and 10 for more details.
