Gemma was our first
introduction to this wonderful breed and was the cause of
the potato chip disease, you have one, and you just gotta
have more. She was a full on girl with a lot of
energy and very loving! We have many wonderful
memories of Gemma, too many to list but one of the
funniest (Not at the time though!) was she was a
shocker when you took her in the car or van. As soon
as you started the vehicle up and start moving she would
bark continuously with excitement and she would go on and
on and on and not stop till you got to your
destination. After a while this would get on your
nerves! We tried everything, from squirting water at
her (she would open her mouth for a drink and then carry
on!), a tin can filled with wee stone's and throw
that on the floor, she wouldn't take any notice, telling
her off, etc. One weekend we had a show coming
up that was 2hr's drive to get to the venue. We
thought we can't stand Gemma barking all that way so I
borrowed a remote controlled shock collar from a friend,
she said this will do the trick to stop her barking!
I charged the batteries up, etc, the night before.
Early in the morning we put the dog's in the van, put the
collar on Gem, loaded up and we were ready to go.
I'm sitting there with the remote in my hand just waiting,
Daron start's the van and backs up the driveway and away
she goes! Meanwhile I'm sitting there thinking,
"This will sort you out Gem", and pushed the
button, and NOTHING happened, she carried on as per usual
and yep, she barked all the way to the show!
Something was wrong with the collar! We did have a
good laugh afterwards about it though, she still won!
