273 Quiet Chinese New Year : Right Wing Ranters :

It's Chinese New year so most people have 9 days holiday. The streets are crowded with immigrant workers, not working. I have continued working on the net, reading books going on long exploring walks.

Wed - Went out to find a dentist who wouldn't cheat me. Behind Hang Tuah I found a 2 square blocks of womans fashion shops mostly wholesale so many bargains

Fri - explored south part of city south of Istana Negara ..abandoned Chinese cemetries with great views




Met up with Selva and Marina and walked around Little India and Merdeka Square

Surprisingly even though it was Chinese New Year there was no fireworks cos they are banned.


Sat - Explored Pudu, Times Square and then to Bangsar for dinner with HC people. In Bangsar with Lucas and Justina (from Poland), Florian (Germany) and the 2 Australians,

Future Fastforward. Brainwashed for war Programmed to kill. I saw these books prominently displayed in the bookshop. After a couple of pages it was obvious that although he's a Ethnic Chinese Catholic he's a right wing ranter RWR like those in the US or UK. So it's not worth taking the books seriously ranters are entertainers rather than philosophers. Although they would of course oppose each other they being pro-west and him being anti-west their principles and techniques are the same. A right wing popularist agenda :it's all THEIR fault the ..foreigners.. being the main principle. The technique being to come to the argument with your own agenda and put all your own points, with no attempt made to make a balanced argument or look at the opposing point of view. Futhermore keep everything simplistic , assumptions and speculations written as facts, the manner of expasperated shouting rather that balanced argument. Of course if you write this way it's easy to get to peoples emotions.. By writing from one side only ..there is no doubt in the mind of the reader.. It's clear and obvious the ..foreigners.. are evil. It's ironic the title if the second book accuses brainwashing when it's written in brainwashing style itself. Being entertainers the ranters quite often seem not to believe half of what they say rather they are to be acting a role to stir up people .. Sell more books and make more money. (or often manipulated by the people that do make the money.) His point in the first book is that the world is being contolled by a zionist conspiracy .. Maybe yes, maybe no, give us some evidence .., but mostly we get opinions instead of facts.

"The 2 World Wars were a result of zionist endeavors (as well as other wars WW3 WW4" !!?) Again maybe yes, maybe no, but how can you argue that they so well organized and such a threat if 6 million of "their own" were tortured and murdered in the process. With that kind of logic you can argue anything; that the invasion of Afghanistan was a result of Taliban endeavors and that their losing control of the country and being beaten into hiding in caves , is actually all part of their secret plan. Speculation written as facts: ..Sharon will invade Lebanon and then Syria.. what from his grave ?

Well it's a free world so the right wing ranters are free to say what they want... As long as they don't incite violence. Could they cause the impressionable to do violent acts ? or is their weak ..stupid style.. writing actually damaging rather that strengthing their own arguments? I don't know, but what is clear is that they serve to muddy the waters rather than enlighten. They are wasting their time confusing people wheras by writing in calm and balanced way they could bring out better understanding among all people and a better world.

Books to Check -Recommends crime and punishment The Most Dangerous Game - Connel, Fanny Hill Candy by Terry Southern (a bit weird classic American novel about a girl who tries to have sex, and disappears into a strange world where she has sex with her father.)

I can always tell when I meet a RWR cos they say things like "when YOU gave Us idependence in 1955". What was I in charge of everything 12 years before I was born ? I think they are talking about when the independence of Malaysia was negotiated between The British government of that time and Malaysian politicians of that time, but their simplistic view of the world there is an Us and Them.

Lies : Guy on radio says tell when politicians lie cos drop pronouns "the problems has been fixed", instead of "I have fixed it" as they try to distance themselves from lies

The cartoon matter was very interesting once I looked into all the facts and I wrote a long rational article about it. But then I realized sometimes it's best to hold your tongue; so I withdrew it.

I care about ALL lives and I don't want to see anyone hurt or killed,policeman or demonstrator in a demonstration in Palestine. An embassy security guard doing his job. Or demonstrator accidentally blow himself up with a petrol bomb. People being held hostage in Iraq. BBC journalists, staff and security guards

So I am glad that the UK press is not printing the cartoons even though they have a legal right to. And I'd like the radio and all the media to drop the whole debate. By not writing they can save lives.

Now I give up my right to freedom of speech. When guys with guns and bombs say they will kill you if they don't like what other people say, then the only realistic option to stop the violence is to close my mouth and keep my thoughts in my mind say

before you could say what you want, in the last couple of months times have changed .
