I left Miyazaki and took the train to Mimitsu.. to begin hitching north
I visited the old town and museums spent a few hours on the coastal walk. Hitched got a ride to Hyuga from a girl who lived in SF she showed me the famous cliff
I walked further up the coast and camped but got bitten by lots of Mosquitos.
I walked around Nobeoka ..castle, small museum etc. Gome biked out of the city got a ride with a Japanese van camper to Saiki. I camped again but also found a lot of Mosquitos. I walked around visiting the reconciliation museum (the town was the base for Kamikazee bombers and was bombed by the Americans), castle historic street again.
Sat - Hitched and went onto Beppu.. cheapest place to stay only $15 at the onsen public baths. Missed the fireworks festival as I went back to hitch in the countryside.
| Sun - Notsu to Usuki camped again met Yuko who showe me the traditional strange swimming sports Yamauchi..swimming in the see waving a huge flagpole etc.

I Also met Mr Otsuka-san who invited me to stay at his house for a couple of days and showed me the izakaya (traditional Japanese bar).
Mon - I Gome biked out to the old Bhudda carving which are a major interest for the Japanese.. I prefer to watch the Japanese myself.
Tue -
Wed - Now I am just about to take the ferry to Shikoku ..great free internet here un Usuki
