Welcome!
The
Mitsubishi Cordia Turbo arrived in Australia in the early 1980's...
Performance was it's name and power was it's game! Straight out
of the factory and pulling 15.8 seconds in a quarter mile, when
the norm for 4 cylinders of the time was 17 to 18 seconds, and projecting
6.9kg of weight per engine horsepower! The Cordia's performance
competitors were the Nissan EXA/ET turbos, the little Daihatsu Charade
turbo and also Mitsubishi's own more expensive rear wheel drive
Starion.
The
Mitsubishi Cordia is front-wheel-drive, a very similar design to
the Colt, it has a wider track for increased stability. Fitted with
sports MacPherson front struts and a beam rear axle. The turbo model
receiving higher rated springs and dampers both front and rear,
and fatter sway bars.
Half
a second slower than a 300ZX Turbo on a 1/4 Mile, the Cordia Turbo
gives most V8's a good run for their money! With many simple modifications,
an increase in power is easily achieved by the Cordia Turbo GSR.
