1.Information and communication technology (ICT) was vital to the EDSA People Power Revolution and EDSA Dos, in which
the mobile phone was used as a rallying point for the uprising of the Filipino people. The Filipino people will never
forget the major national event that occurred on February 25, 1986.
Corazon Aquino needed Radio Veritas, a 24-hour AM radio station run by the Roman Catholic Church, as it was the main channel of
communication for the democratic opposition in order to build a popular democratic movement. Corazon Aquino utilized Radio Veritas
to mobilize the Filipino people for peaceful protests and to update them about political happenings. In addition to broadcasting live
coverage of Benigno Aquino's killing, burial procession, and US exile, Radio Veritas also covered Corazon Aquino's campaign for the
quick elections as well as the counting of votes and the outcomes of the counting.
2. ICT promoted Filipino unity. Through social media, they were able to share their thoughts and sentiments about ending the Pork
Barrel Fund. To support, they created pages, blogs, memes, websites, and other things. The majority of the protests during this time
were coordinated via social media. Even on Facebook, they created an event with the title "MILLION PEOPLE MARCH TO LUNETA AUGUST 26:
SA ARAW NG MGA BAYANI, PROTESTA NG MGA BAYANI!!! In order to get people to join the demonstration and demand an end to the pork barrel
fund mess, Arnold Pedrigal and Bernardo Bernardo used the power of social media to build it.
3.Although ICT offers a variety of digital solutions for disaster management, there are obstacles limiting their usefulness. Governments,
international organizations, and civil society should work together to fully harness the disruptive technologies' potential to cope with
any humanitarian disaster in an efficient manner. International efforts to control disasters will be accelerated by increased research and
development (R&D) and investments.
