This artistamp, offered here as a
block of four stamps, was designed by
W.C. "Bill" Porter and
manufactured by the Olathe Poste (Olathe, Colorado). A
portrait of Buffalo Bill Cody and Chief Sitting Bull is
featured on the stamps. The two were friends, both in the
wilds of the untamed West and after Sitting Bull became
"civilized." The portrait was taken while both were members of
the famous "Wild West Show."
The actual size of this
block of four artistamps is 74mm x 56mm (2.91" x
2.20").
