Introduction

My name is Spencer Hendricks (like you care), and this site is a running commentary of the St. Louis Cardinals and major league baseball in general. Mostly the former with a bit of the ladder. I consider myself to be something of a baseball fan, and being a resident of Springfield, Missouri (location of the AA Springfield Cardinals), my very heart pumps Cardinal red blood. Sadly, I was but a small lad when the Cardinals enjoyed their success in the 1980's, lead by the likes of Ozzie Smith, Willie McGee, Jack Clark, Vince Coleman, and various others. I never got to see Whitey Herzog calling the shots from the dugout. For me, it started in the Joe Torre era, with the likes of Ray Lankford, Bernard Gilkey, Bob Tewksbury, and Luis Alicea. I can't help but wonder if I wasn't supposed to be born at least ten years earlier.
My interest in the Cardinals exploded (as all of America's interest in baseball did) when St. Louis acquired fearsome slugger Mark McGwire in July of 1997. Okay, so maybe America didn't start paying attention until the following season when he and Orioles' right fielder Samuel Sosa began embarking on their own personal home run derbies. Being as I'm writing this in the recent aftermath of Jose Canseco's (doubtlessly well-written) book, I do think Big Mac juiced up on more than Andro, but it only cost him his knee, and he got 583 home runs out of it. Plus he got out while the getting was good, which was more than could be said for everyone else.
Anyway, I miss nary a Cardinal game. If I can't watch it, I check the boxscore very closely. I know most of what there is to know about this organization, at least from a fan's point of view. Because of my overwhelming knowledge and the ridiculous tendency to be right about baseball, I have decided to put up a site where I can freely express my opinion. I get my information from other sources, as well as all my photos. If there's a problem with that, and I doubt that there is, there's probably nothing that can be done anyway. The point is I'm not passing anything off as my own except for my quirky ideas and subpar graphics. Enjoy.
